It depends of how we may interpret and understand it, and as for me gambling is really fun because it does not only amuses me but it also entertains me a lot.  So it is not just excitement and thrills when you do this with friends or family's it is the reaction that you will witness in every bet or game result's which will probably make you smile.  Win or loose brother you will smile from their reaction.

It all depends of your approach.
If you have to win some cash, to for example, pay your debts or simply buy food than
its not fun its a struggle, a matter of life and death. Stress and anger will eat you alive. Definitely no fun in that.
Have some bits to loose? Nice evening with beer and chips along few cards and you have some entertainment.
You loose, you win doesn't matter, all what is important is hedonistic pleasure and maybe a little thrills, not especially cheep thrills. Gambling when rich -> pleasure. When poor -> nightmare.

in my opinion gambling is fun because of the fun when i have during the gameplay, it is the fun of not knowing what is going to happen and the fun of winning when it happens.

You need to differentiate between FUN and FUNNY, those have different meaning. Fun is when you enjoy yourself on such thing, but funny is something that makes you laugh.
So of course there is no funny thing in gambling because gambling is not a joke. But it is fun when you can enjoy the game.

Your way of using the gambling is really good, and the extra money which you are using in gambling that is also good, actually in other threads i also explane it, i also have same way of using the gambling even i have separate wallet for gambling, and in this wallet i have only that bitcoins which i win or lost it.
In this way, we are satisfied with gambling even we lose or win, and we enjoy it, but where is fun?
