the long term investment in bitcoin is a 5 year or even more period for me. because i believe that bitcoin will be mass adopted in that period of time and the price will be much higher and ready to be used as a real currency.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

In traditional investments, long term is most often considered to be a minimum of 5 years. But bitcoin seems to live its life in hyper drive, hence the question to the bitcoin world, what is long term to the average bitcoin investor?
Well, I think every people have their own answer about how long is it. But, for me long term in investment like 6months - 1year and i prefer invest for short term.

I would say that 10 years is a long term investment. 5 years is definitely not a long term investment. I hope that Bitcoin continues to be a great investment and continue to rise in price.

I'd have to agree with some users and say that long term is at least 10 years...
Wow, it's a long time, maybe only 4 - 5 years long term investment for me because I wait for $1000+ for 1 bitcoin price, And need to gather more bitcoin. And renew my investment.

Bitcoin is very different to traditional investments and I feel like comparing apples to oranges here because with the price of Bitcoin being so volatile one could get the same yield in just under one year where a 'normal' investment could have taken at least 2 or more years. But not everything is rainbows and unicorns when it comes to Bitcoin investments because the price swings are so big and so frequent that you may end up losing money and not gaining anything. I have set a rule for my Bitcoin investment where I access the market situation every year and if I think there is an opportunity to make a profit I sell. I believe 1 year is just about right when we are dealing with such a volatile commodity like Bitcoin.

long term investment in bitcoin , for me, it means as long as bitcoin becomes popular (more than what it is now) and reaches that mass adoption stage that we are all hoping for it to reach. and this stage happens to be needing a long time which can be around 5 years or more. so long term investment here is also 5 years but it can be shorter if that adoption stage is reached sooner because of some unpredicted things happening.

maybe 20 years is long enough time for bitcoin investor. actually he can be a millioner by that time. you can see the bitcoin growth in these 5 years. so i think that 20 years is average time to get huge profit.

Long term means 5 years or more as per the traditional investment. That is why government gives you a benefit of "long term capital gain" if you hold any investment for more than 5 years.
However, bitcoin investment is not a conventional investment and you should consider more than 5 years if you are investing in bitcoin. Remember one thing, that bitcoin will not be available after 2023. So invest wisely and hold it till your retirement if you want to make your dream come true. That is what I am planning too.

If you are using the word long term, so its mean invest your bitcoin for 5 year, or may be more. otherwise less than 5 years investment so it is not long term way. Secondly, investment need some time, than it would give you good profit, and the big investors always doing it. I am also doing investment, and now i m getting profit, but when i was starting it, it was difficult for me, passing the time we can manege it.

Long term for me is probably close to 5-10 years. However, I wouldn't suggest holding BTC for this long, considering the volatility in price throughout the history of bitcoin. The maximum that I would probably hold is 2 years and then sell.
