"Nobody can generate Bitcoin out of thin air."
But, but ... that's what miners do!

hahahahahahaha... now you have to explain mining.

Well the original statement technically makes sense, it does take some effort to be put in and some energy in order for Bitcoins to be generated, and they don't just appear... and now I see you were being sarcastic.

I think he can just say that it requires computers to look for a single line of coding (basically) and they have to make trillions of calculations every second in order for someone to find some Bitcoin after ten-ish minutes.

Grandma: so in 10 minutes I can haz my 50 bitcoins?
Grandpa: the reward is halving grandma, it will be 25, o wait, it's halving again, it's now 12.5 bitcoins.
Grandma: oh. so in 10 minutes I can haz my 12.5 bitcoins? WTF is halving? What do you take me for? Obsolete?
Grandpa: You need a dedicated application specific integrated circuit bunch of chips to mine on a pool.
Grandma: I don't swim, I'm not going into any pool with you.
Grandpa: (crap, no sex again for another 48 hours, I'm getting too old for this shit, you grandson, go buy me a beer!

Just explain to them that bitcoin is a means to pay your bills without the need to go out of the house, and it can be sent through just a single click of a mouse. They would crazy if you explain technicaly about bitcoin like blockchain, mining, etc, i think grandparents in this era are familiar with e-payment, and majority of them use it,

I wonder what is the easiest explanation of Bitcoin that you can come up with?  Grin
"online money"

I think it's a simple term to tell grandma and grandpa as long as they know what online is. the thing is if your grandparents don't know what "online" is, but I think the term is known by most of people. so you can tell them that bitcoin is online money

I guess it was not necessary, the benefits of what you can do if teach them about bitcoin? because I think bitcoin too complicated for older people especially who are not familiar with the technology / internet. an easy way for old people is to fiat money they've known it since they were born instead. different with us now who are familiar with bitcoin, then in the future if we are old we prefer bitcoin I guess. hehe

Dude, that explanation will scare off the kids, if they saw that.... I do not even want to think what Granny will think of that, if I showed her that. I can already see this... Granny - Sonny get me my

glasses and let's see if I can figure this out... Why are there so many lines? I just told her, " Gran, it's the electronic version of regular money, BUT just a lot smarter " She then asked, But what if the

computer do not work, can I still use it.... And then I said... " Gran, we do not only use our computers... you use your cellphone too.. The response was .... " This is Cool "  Grin

bitcoin is suitable for all ages. including grandpa or grandma. You can still tell them about bitcoin. but most parents are blind to the technology and bitcoin live online and use the internet to its use? maybe you'll difficulty in telling them. I'm also confused as to how to tell them about bitcoin?

I think we can explain Bitcoin to old people by simply trimming down the tech behind it.  We can tell then that it's some kind of token with equivalent money value and is adopted by lots of merchant in the whole world and can be use to buy stuff.  Digital currency is a bit too deep for them to understand especially to those non-techy senior people. But they are familiar with token.  So for a starter we can use the term token and when they are comfortable using it, we can then explain it little by little or they can figure it out what bitcoin really is themselves Cheesy . Don't look down on seniors! they are Far knowledgeable than us in terms of experience and adoptation.

Well, say that they can use their old PCs to generate some income for them if they can just leave their PCs on 24/7. I mean, they won't really, but it's a good way to lure someone into BTC.

Also if they understand what decentralized means, explain that to them too.

Seriously whenever I attempt to explain something to my grandparents this does not end well. It usually goes into a spiral of never ending questions. Whenever there is a new idea you have to explain it.

"Decentralized anonymous virtual currency" sums it up nicely i guess.

I think explaining it to a not techy grandpa or grandma is not worth it since they will not be interested on it.But if they really want to know it they can easily understand it even ifnyou said the basics only on bitcoins

Just tell them there's another world on the Internet and that's where you can find bitcoin. Tell them that bitcoin is just another currency like dollars, euro, etc. The only difference is that you can only get access to your bitcoins if you have Internet but just like the other currencies, you can exchange bitcoin into another currency as well.

That's nice but I don't think at older age they will entertain bitcoin or would be interested in knowing it, as they are enjoying their retirement life they will not bother to earn money now.
