"In a nutshell, the network works like a distributed timestamp server, stamping the first transaction to spend a coin. It takes advantage of the nature of information being easy to spread but hard to stifle." -- Satoshi

Nope, last time that page was there, the answer was something like this: "that's a old page I forgot to change, the server was changed long ago."
I guess we're still seeing the old page.

Sometimes computers are funny like old people; they pull things out of a cache of random memories when they get confused, and they smell.  Don't be the worries. It's only Smellz...

Not to sound like a newbie, but if I were to be expecting a payment to one of my addresses I have with Blockchain, it would still go through right?

Yes, you should also use the backup option in case they disappear for real.

Part of me is completely horrified about the infrastructure behind Bitcoin:
  • blockchain.info running on Mac Minis,
  • the current technical problems with MtGox trading APIs (probably due to scaling issues or maybe it's all written in shonky PHP),
  • matching engines for trading written in JavaScript (bitfloor),
  • developers of the reference Bitcoin implementation reluctant to provide a formal specification because of all the subtle bugs hidden away in the implementation that could introduce a hard fork in the blockchain.

Then another part of me thinks this is good: the barrier to entry is so low that any goofball who's made a GeoCities page can be part of an open, decentralised, digital currency.
