So, i'm just starting out and I got Xapo in order to collect some satoshi to play around with. I was wondering if Xapo is safe to use? It lets me instantly transfer money from faucets to my wallet so I don't have to "collect X amount before cashing out". I've heard that online wallets can be insecure, should I get a safer (desktop?) wallet and transfer what I collect there, or will I be fine using Xapo? Thanks!
Yup xapo is the one of my safest wallet that i know. Nut you should activate their 2FA AND other security method so thst your account is full secured. But what is the cause of XAPO wallet locked? Because my wallet of my friend is locked he didnt know why they locked his account. So im asking here why they locked some account?

It really depends on you, you could transfer it if the amount you have in your Xapo wallet is too big and you feel unsafe with that amount. And desktop wallet could be safer If you worry about your earnings, I suggest only transfer it if it is to big but really depends on you.

Apart from that XAPO is busy with expanding which tells me they are there for the long run. I've got on wallet with them now since I use mainly kraken for deposits and withdrawals to fiat.

Actually, my faith for this wallet gets a little bit finer since they seems trying to improve their customer service by having JessieXapo. She tries to answer some problems posted around the forum and I saw that some people actually posting on how their account problems are now fixed.

Most people are baited by Xapo Online Wallet service because it offers 'no fee' transactions. But if you are not faucet lecher then transaction fees shouldn't be major concern for you anyway. After reading many threads with complainants, I am sure it is 99% customers fault that their accounts are frozen.
For example, something you can read in XAPO ToS:
"unless and until you have verified your identity with Xapo, you will not have a legal or beneficial right to these bits from Xapo and may be restricted in your ability to utilize the Xapo Services"
Also: "If you are under 18 years of age, you are not authorized to use the Xapo Services, with or without registering." - Kids go home
And: "you agree not to implement any measures to circumvent such blocking (e.g., by masking your IP address or using a proxy IP address)" - No VPN! No hiding IP.
Or: "any transaction involving illegal products or services is prohibited. Xapo reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend your account" - i.e. no gambling

Faucet leechers are everywhere.Don't expect a fauceter to care about their accounts or bitcoins. To start with,XAPO sucks. It shouldn't even exists as a bitcoin wallet service. "unless and until you have verified your identity with Xapo, you will not have a legal or beneficial right to these bits from Xapo and may be restricted in your ability to utilize the Xapo Services"
Rules,Rules and more fuckin rules.Verify your identity so that you can continue doing anonymous transactions.Don't you think they collide ? Also: "If you are under 18 years of age, you are not authorized to use the Xapo Services, with or without registering." - Kids go home
Why ? I don't recall my parents telling me to grow pubes to keep money in my pockets. The entire structure is bad, very bad for bitcoin. If this is not centralization,I don't know what is.People should top using XAPO. Really sad to see these fuckers trying to centralize everything.

Of course existence of centralized services like Xapo with corporate set of rules and KYC and AML procedures is not Satoshi would endorse. But we, the community is the reason these wallet services have growing userbase and they will be more and more successful because of that. As I pointed out - most people don't even read ToS and if their Xapo's account is frozen because they broke the rules of ToS they cry and call it a scam.

In my personal experience, I have used Xapo wallet for a whole year and I have enjoyed a lot its service. They have invested huge in improving their security and I am willing to continue relying on them while its service continues working well.

To the users posting here that Xapo is safe, can you please clarify what you mean by safe?
To me, it seems there are two different definitions of safe with regards to online wallets:
1. Safe as in - "The system is secure and hackers can't get into my account and steal my bitcoins because it has 2FA, cold storage vault, insurance etc" and 2. Safe as in - "They are trustworthy company that will not 'steal' my bitcoins by freezing my account for arbitrary reasons/shutting down the service, as they hold the private keys for all my bitcoins and I have no way to retrieve my coins if they do"
IMHO, Xapo probably fits definition 1, they seem to have the external security stuff worked out. However, no one can prove (or disprove) that they fit into definition 2. This doesn't just apply to Xapo, this applies to pretty much any online wallet that doesn't give you full control of the private keys.
Ask yourself, how much money would you hand a stranger and ask them to look after it for you? If the answer is less than you currently have in Bitcoins in an online wallet, you probably want to get yourself a desktop/offline/hardware wallet that you control.

With safe most of them mean the infrastructure XAPO has. But being into bitcoin for a long time we all know it's know it's never safe to use online wallets, exchanges for storage of your bitcoins. That's why i never advice to hold more then .5 bitcon at any place online.

I have made multiple transfers and actions through the Xapo wallet smoothly so far, and although I also have other available wallets to move my bitcoins, most of my coins are stored in Xapo. Yes, it is true that overconfidence is never a good deal, but I really find my xapo wallet very useful for me and I hope this good service remains for long.

Since you haven't got any replies from crap posters, let me answer you on their behalf (reduced by IQ level to -10 for a minute) 1. Safe as in - "The system is secure and hackers can't get into my account and steal my bitcoins because it has 2FA, cold storage vault, insurance etc" and
What if your xapo account along with your email id is hacked ? No one can stop them. What if you run a script by mistake and or on purpose which changes your xapo copy paste address to theirs ? Very vulnerable, online wallets aren't safe. 2. Safe as in - "They are trustworthy company that will not 'steal' my bitcoins by freezing my account for arbitrary reasons/shutting down the service, as they hold the private keys for all my bitcoins and I have no way to retrieve my coins if they do"
They still have your private keys? You believe them just because they told you to?Looking at it technically, its not even your wallet, its a 3rd party wallet where you'd be hosting your coins. IMHO, Xapo probably fits definition 1, they seem to have the external security stuff worked out. However, no one can prove (or disprove) that they fit into definition 2. This doesn't just apply to Xapo, this applies to pretty much any online wallet that doesn't give you full control of the private keys.
Correct.Moreover,you can never prove that.
