As I have recently found out, Tor is potentially very insecure due to exit nodes that could be untrustworthy... Which made me look into I2P. But I'm not totally convinced of that either...

I mean I'm sure both are generally better than using a traditional web browser, but are there any better, safer, more anonymous alternatives..? Tor and I2P are the only ones I know of, and neither seem remotely close to perfect...

Thanks guys. Smiley

I think generally here in this case of which is more secure, i2p would have to take the cake... but the fact that you can't browse anything beside eepsites is pretty much hindering adoption.  Tor is nice and all, but if there was more overall activity on i2p then maybe you will see more of these eepsites pop up

You could get a friend to look up the websites you want and then print out every page like a brochure, bind it & then you can have offline viewing pleasure granted you don't mind waiting a few days or maybe weeks lol.

The other way would be for those friends to browse your wanted websites and save them all to usb for offline browsing and give you the usb Cheesy

Dude...if that's your definition of 'secure' you're in for a big surprise....

To OP:

Safest way: using a tails CD on a spoofed address, connected to a Starbucks/free WiFi from the parking lot Smiley

Well,if you want to be secure you should always connect via vpn. Also, make sure you have very good anti-virus bought and active.
Always use pop-up blockers (adblock too),to keep safe yourself,in my opinion you should also scan your computer often,it might help.

you can use vpn, if you are lazy you can just google for proxy and browse via proxy, or you can download tor and browse via it as it works like vpn too

He have already said he wont use TOR because of "very insecure exit nodes" . Personally i think that TOR is kind of secure.
VPN does not really make a difference when u use tor,i mean it is actually the same thing.

Use a vpn  Cool, but seriously, don't go to shady looking sites looking for easy ways to earn money  Tongue and you'll be fine with a good anti virus.

Internet Cafe's are the way to browse safely.  They take all the risk, you sit in the corner and browse what you like.  If they are any good they will have some measures in place to avoid unwelcome intrusions from outside.  Any Internet Cafe's that have gaming machines are set up for high volume transfers of data and no doubt have inbuilt protection while player's are distracted by their games.
