We have reduced the estimated POW period from 6 months - 1 year to 10,000 blocks (6.9 Days) this was due to some security concerns I had after speaking with mining farm and pool owners. Like some have posted on the forum with a long POW period there are various scenarios that the Stratis network could have been susceptible to attack. We also could not foresee the ETC/ETH situation, ETC is another blockchain that we would have to compete with for hashrate.

After the 10,000 POW blocks the Stratis blockchain will transition to POS only, the interim wallet is based on blackcoin and utilizes its POSv3 Proof-Of-Stake algorithm. We have made the decision to utilize POSv3 in the Stratis full node framework, due to the fact it was developed for Bitcoin and has active development. FYI We will be rewriting POSv3 and implementing the changes required to integrate POSv3 into later versions of Bitcoin.

This is imperative for the security of the network that coins are minted and distributed during the POW phase.

The wallet is just a working clone of blackcoin, tons of other altcoins have already used the same wallet, only the images and the colors are changing  
(that is not a problem at this early stage of the project)

Any news for the ICO site to support setting the wallet address? (edit: ok, implemented)
