I've installed GUIMiner on 3 machines all pooling for deepbit, I'm using the latest GUIMiner, and using the tags -v -w 128 -f 60 when I mine,
but after being on for about 10 minutes the hashrate drops from about 45 MHash/s to about 600 kHash /s.  I have checked and disabled all of my
power saving settings (windows 7).  What am I doing wrong?

What GPU? Also, try CGMiner too as GUIMiner is outdated.

It's a GTX 550 Ti, and I have tried CG miner, though it was through the Guiminer interface

Did you ever fix this, I get the same behaviour with guiminer on deepbit and eclipse.... but slush and bitparking work fine....  odd

I'm wondering if a change to cgminer will do the trick?

I had similar problem with guiminer. Haven't had a single instance of this problem since using cgminer or bfgminer. You just need to get used to the command line options.

Seems to be a gui miner issue, had no such problems using cgminer.  Stayed connected all last night when it would have dropped out within 30 minutes on gui miner.

Hope this helps somone,
