If you mean change your password in blockchain.info wallet, I do not think it is possible. if you forget your password and you do not have the recovery phrase to restore it, you loose your btc

There are no passwords stored on the blockchain.
If you mean the password of your wallet then you should look up the process for your specific wallet, if you lost your password (and your seed depending on the wallet) however then it'll be hard to get your bitcoins back.

easiest way with blockchain.info is to set up a new account. and then transfer funds from old account to new account and then just dont use the old account anymore

The following method only applies to web wallet at blockchain.info.
The answer is fairly simple and straight forward.Taken from their FAQ section.

Your password is never transmitted over the internet, sent to our servers, stored in cookies or in your browser's local storage in any form for this reason we are unable to help recover lost passwords.

If that answers your question,you cannot send bitcoins if you have lost access to the password.However if you still have access to your phrase,next one's for you.

A secret phrase can be set in your "Account Details" panel after login. In the case of lost wallet identifiers, yubikeys or lost email access the secret phrase can be given to us to help verify account ownership. This is reviewed manually on a case by case basis

But I think you shouldn't have to worry about it. Without the wallet ID nobody can hack your account. And if you set a protection, everytime you want to login on your wallet, a mail with a code will be send to your email. So, just keep your email safe and your wallet ID protected.

Bullshit. Don't use any online wallet ever. When are people going to learn this? Does it really take a theft of everything in your wallet to realize they're the crappies, least secure wallets ever? Seriously. Google it. Don't take my word for it. Blockchain.info is terrible for bitcoin losses and they blame their customers. What kind of idiot would trust their money with a company like that?

It's not 100% safe as nothing about Bitcoin is 100% safe. If you have a desktop wallet, your computer can be infected by a virus and your BTCs will be stolen. If your computer crash, it's all over. There are some steps to make it safest, it's true, but not 100% anyway.

Some people aren't interested doing many steps to storage BTCs, they just want to use an easy and online service like BlockChain.info. They don't have much money to store, they won't miss it very much if a hacker steal accounts or any other thing. And it's a very useful service indeed, I'm using it since almost 1 year and never had any problem with them.

I'm just telling him about his actual situation. But if OP wants a safest way to storage BTCs, he can follow what you are saying of course.

You absolutely can (and most likely will) get hacked once you reach a certain threshold that they want to see before they steal your money *cough* I mean 'get hacked'.

It's just as convenient (IMO actually more convenient) to have a wallet on your phone like mycelium where the developers don't have access to your private keys.

I don't think so... Otherwise we would see lots of people here complaining about that service, and I don't see this happening. That it's not 100% safe, I agree, but that they are stealling BTCs, I doubt...

About blockchain.info security:

- your password is never transmitted over the internet, it is not sent to their servers, they don't store it in cookies or in any form; that is why they are unable to help recover lost passwords.

- user's personal data such as: email address is only made available to a client with the associated shared key, this is encrypted inside your wallet which requires your password to reveal.

In short - blockchain.info staff is not able to access your coins - unless they bruteforce your password.

Users using blockchain only have few btc actually and they are mostly newbies, if there are old timer, they may just be using it to store few amounts just so they can access when needed and it could just be less than $200. Online wallets may not be safe for some of us but blockchain seem to have reputation for the users here. Same goes with the exchange wallets that we traders store altcoins, we don't trust online storage but we kept coins on exchange wallets.
