Hey guys, im interested in purchasing one of Cryptolab's new Case physical wallets. What appeals to me is that it is a standalone device, without needing a computer or a phone to operate (like the Trezor or Ledger hardware wallets)

But this also has some downsides. You have no direct connection to the internet.

I have a question. To send a transaction, you'll have to use the built in scanner to scan a QR code. What if you have just a bitcoin Address? The easiest way to send that is to convert the address into a qr code, which is a complicated process. And how do you get people to send to your case wallet? A qr code. What if you need someone on the other side of the country to send you bitcoin? Problem there.

So is there a simpler way to send/recieve bitcoin on a Case, or Case 2 coming out, or is there even a better alternative?

Case wallet has a built in cell chip that communicates with the Case server. The cost of the lifetime cell connection is baked into the $199 cost. You can only use the Case device to scan and send bitcoin to QR codes, you can not send from the Case to a bitcoin address.

When you set up your Case wallet you are given access to https://dashboard.choosecase.com from where you manage your Case. You have a bitcoin receiving address at your dashboard where you send to load the device. You could just have bitcoin from someone else sent to that address.

I bought one to review but frankly do not use it much. I just use Mycelium on my phone when I need to pay locally with bitcoin. Case does work very well no problems there at all but since I already carry a phone it is one more gadget to carry.
