I have a few wallets at blockchain.info.
And there are a two things that bother me:

What happenes if I lose my email account for any reason (got hacked, provider goes bankrupt, password lost)?
Because to log in, blockchain.info sends me a confirmation mail to my address each time. If I do not get that, how do I log in?

And what happened to the mnemonic from the legacy wallet? In the new version I have not seen it.
Has it been replaced by the 12 recovery words?

Yes, the old wallet used the mnemonic for recovery, the new wallet is a deterministic wallet so all accounts, transactions, private and public keys in the entire wallet can all be recovered from just those 12 words.

Be very careful with those 12 words.  If they are compromised everything in the wallet is compromised.

Enable each and every security option of BlockChain. Secondary password, mobile verification, e-mail verification, etc. With their newer version, the 12 words (YOU MUST SAVE THEM VERY NEATLY SOMEWHERE), you can use anytime to recover your account.

Yeah one option you have is mnemonic to recover. But i would like to recomend to keep the private keys im a text file or somewhere more safer place so that you have a backup in case you lose up mnemonic too. Well keeping private key in a text file is not also good so you can do an extra step by compressing it and set up a password on it.

Here is the difference (considering you have a safe PC)
If you install a desktop wallet like Electrum or MultibitHD, the only thing you need to safeguard very carefully is the SEED, without it no one can touch your bitcoins. While while you are on blockchain.info you rely on third party to do your transactions, EXTREMELY STUPID CHOICE if you ask me.

Anyway in the end its based on user choice, if the user is smart he moves from online wallets to desktop ones, if he is not he continue with online wallets.

You also realize that the blockchain.info wallet, when used properly, is secure since no crypto functions take place at blockchain.info - all crypto functions take place you your own computer, right?

If you got your email hack better to set your sms authentication than using email to verify your blockchain.. honestly i already trust this wallet in the first time but i dont't know if sms verification is good in block chain.. i am coinbase user and if i for got my password i can reset it in sms.. if you contact the support of block chain try to ask about sms verification..

Well in such cases the creater of this OP is advised to have a wallet in his laptop which is offered by the official bitcoin forum which is right here . It may take your data but it will be safer if it really bothers you .

I don't know about that.  I've tried restoring the wallet using the seed on both wallet.  Multibit HD asked for a datestamp which is only available on wallet backups created using Multibit HD and Electrum didn't even accept the seed.

Electrum needs its own seed and the seed in electrum is case sensitive, if you try to restore your blockchain wallet seed via electrum it will definitely not work. And I am really surprised like a legendary member is defending the worst of all wallets blockchain.info, everything may happen inside my computer but it also happens inside a browser which has much higher risks, rather than doing the transaction for example via electrum servers which got nothing stored on them(private keys are on my PC and not on my browser) anyway to the OP be smart and switch as soon as possible to a desktop wallet as compared to online wallets are safer usually and I have never heard a single story for example of Electrum being hacked, different with blockchain which we all know a lot of stories.

Yes, with the old version blockchain.info wallet, we have heard the missing funds from the wallets from time to time. But for this new HD wallets which is for addressing all of the existing issues. Security and user experience has been improved a lot. I haven't heard any hacks or missing funds  yet since the upgrade.

Thats very good to know then, I will give this new wallet a try myself today once I get home and of course will only keep there maximum of 0.005 btc , should be good to have this low amount in order to do betting from my office without touching my main wallet. I hope you are right and this wallet truly have improved security a lot as thats what this wallet was missing big time. Lets see if this brings some hope.
If it works good without security problems for long time, then I may keep even more bitcoins in this wallet.
But still it cannot be beat Electrum, it can beat it in the sense that you can use blockchain everywhere, while if you want to use electrum everywhere you need your seed with you in different computers and that is not a good practice to do(high risk of trojans, malware ,phishing, keyloggers).

first of all. you should use a safe email address and password. and keep them somewhere  there they can't get lost.
second safe your alias and identifier too. I think if you lost your email you can also get enter with help of your identifier.
third don't used the same password of your email address on blockchain.info..

don't store big amount of money in blockchain. blockchain.info's wallets are good for receiving and sending money but not safe for storing large amount of bitcoins.
