Imagine a Bitcoin revolution inside North Korea. I find this idea fascinating, of some underground people starting spreading Bitcoin around. The problem is they just have some sort of intranet.. so how would we be able to start spreading nodes inside North Korea? This would be great to start an underground economy beyond the dictatorship of that fat dude.

Even in the "free" world bitcoin doesn't have much of an adoption rate.  What would a bitcoin revolution inside of North Korea look like?  How would it manifest itself and what would be the end result?

As fascinating the idea is, it's quite difficult to be achieved.
Just like omegastarscream said, there are two possible method to introduce btc to NK, from within the people themselves and from outsider like us. The later will grant us, any of us who tried, an one way ticket to afterlife while the former would need a strong effort and solidarity. The dictatorship that their country applied would mostly scare civilians from trying to introduce something new. A revolution is needed to fight the dictatorship, true, but if they can built such revolution, I think they will focus it on forming a new kind of leadership and ruling system instead of umm... introducing cryptocurrency.
Unless Kim is interested on btc himself.

North Korea?

Yeah that's not going to happen, any other country there is always a possibility to see bitcoin accepted/incorporated/used but North Korea has the tightest rules of all. He'd chop anybodies head off if he found them using bitcoin Grin

No offence, but it looks like you have no idea what a dictatorship really is. There is NO underground people there and even if there were some just to show the world "Look how free our people are!" they would work for the government secretly.

Sorry but this is not going to happen for many reasons, first and most important is that the "underground people" you are talking about don't exist or at least they are not enough to start a revolution.People there are so brainwashed none of them is going to revolt against their beloved supreme leader.

Most of north korea struggle to even have a consistent electrical supply, the chances of them having an internet connection thats not monitored and not behind a firewall is minimal. thats assuming they would even have internet which is very unlikely . If nkorea had internet then every north korean would know the truth about their glorious leader. I honestly dont even think anyone other than goverment officials would have mobile phones their. All in all north korea is probably the only country in the world that wont have any bitcoin in the future unless there is a massive change in power.

they actually have an internet connection though its not the internet that we all use, north korea has another internet that only their country citizens use so i think it would be kinda impossible for them to use bitcoins

despite that, most of their people seem to be kinda loyal to their government also it would take a lot of time to adopt it, i think nothing good would turn out thus it would be fruitless

Very difficult. Only high individuals (and foreign residents, I think) have wide internet access and others only access an "intranet", if they have access at all. The only way to do so is via smuggled Chinese phones, but the connection is most likely very poor... That is, if they can have mobile data at all with those phones.

It will be possible if there is a person who will introduce to kim jong-un there  supreme leader about bitcoin and what can bitcoin do in there country, he have to explain it correctly and make kim understand a lot,  what will be the effect if they use bitcoin as payment, and let him buy some mining rig only for there country. But if he cant convice kim about the bitcoin and its advantages, well good luck. Grin

It will be indeed very difficult to allow bitcoins under the dictatorship of the north Korea Ruler. dictatorship does not allow a free currency like bitcoin to be used publicly and hence there is very little chance of bitcoins flourishing in north Korea.

Most countries and certainly the UN are currently sanctioning North Korea.  Bitcoin might be useful for North Korea in purchasing materials required for their nuclear weapons program.  It would take a special kind of person to sell them on the idea.

There is basically no way to create a cryptocurrency or get Bitcoin inside North Korea unless you get everyone in there their own computer-connected device, get them educated, and figure out how to smuggle in the blockchain and get them to connect to everything outside of North Korea, all while trying to avoid getting your community executed due to conspiring against the state.

The infrastructure to run Bitcoin simply doesn't exist, and the community would number in the dozens even if you managed to get everything running within the borders.

I don't know the politics of NK.  I thought they had a huge videogaming base there.  Or is that S. Korea?

It's a good idea, but adoption in the democratic countries should and will happen first, if that happens at all.

As long as they have internet in North Korea then bitcoin is possible. Thats except if there is a strict policy monitoring on internet that filters all topics or activities. At this moment Bitcoin is not yet a worldwide phenomenon and North Korea would not monitor these things. So given these things I can make a hypothesis that bitcoin is possible in north Korea if they have an internet.
