Bitcoin Hasn’t Done Anything Special Say the Brits in a Survey

While the hopes are strong among the Bitcoin community about the emergence of bitcoin as a mainstream payment instrument in the coming days, the English merchants have a different take on it. According to a survey conducted by the Smith and Williamson, businesses in and around the United Kingdom have found bitcoin and other digital currencies to be too insignificant to drive any large scale changes in the past 5 years.

The views expressed by business owners is quite contrary to the actual turn of events in the digital currency sector from the past 5 years. We can see that bitcoin, other digital currencies, and digital currency based technologies started to gain prominence about 4-5 years ago. The evolution of Bitcoin technology also led to the emergence of various bitcoin exchanges and wallet services during the period.

Right in saying that it has not had much effect on business and economy yet as it is still mostly an investment and speculation.  When you can buy just about anything with bitcoin then it will begin changing business and economy.  While they are being ridiculous by ignoring it they are also correct to an extent.  More adoption is needed.

I love Bitcoin

Some merchants say that Bitcoin isn't what they expected it to be. And you know why? It's because they see not many people are actually using their coins to pay for things. The far majority of the people at this point only use Bitcoin as an investment tool. And if they happen to spend some coins then it mostly is online to purchase digital goods. I am quite sure that it will change at some point when local merchants such as super markets start accepting Bitcoin. Places where you can buy your daily needs. That's important.
