At least there's a publicized case:

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/dec/09/bitcoin-forgotten-currency-norway-oslo-home

Man buys $27 of bitcoin, forgets about them, finds they're now worth $886k

"Kristoffer Koch invested 150 kroner ($26.60) in 5,000 bitcoins in 2009, after discovering them during the course of writing a thesis on encryption. "

I agree with TS that the geeks has an advantage in the advent of digital age. They spend most of their time online, finding opportunities and tinkering the technology. It started from Bill gates? and other tech giant who are now living the life of their dreams Wink

I read his story Smiley Paying 10k BTC for a pizza.  Now at the price value of BTC reaches $700+ its almost equal to $7,000,000 for Pizza! The most expensive maybe in the world.

How many of these legends are still active, or has access to their keys, or remain in the technology sectors?

I don't think there are that many BTC millionaires tbh. I think most got out a long time ago.

When Bitcoins first started, it was seen as a form of geeky adventure. Nerds and geeks were viewed by non-IT people with different lens. But perhaps those nerds and geeks who started mining for fun half a decade ago and hoarded thousands of bitcoins are now the new millionaires.

Who's laughing now? Perhaps the overweight geeks hiding in the basements with thousands of bitcoins will be overwhelmed by hot chicks in this time and age

why should hot girls fuck with geeks?

Oh yes the Money. In what do you care about in Love? The Money =) ?

I wouldn't give credit to bill Gates on this matter,as he's irrelevant to bitcoin in the greater scheme of things.

And those who pay their employees in BTC don't necessarily have to have been early adopters - just smart lads and lasses Smiley

I am afraid that for anyone who joined bitcoin hype train after MtGox collapse and that historical ATH in 2013/14 is not 'early adopter' anymore.
Bitcoin is still young, so maybe in the future my 1 BTC will be worth $100.000 or some crazy amount. I certainly won't be a millionaire though.

I think through the many ups and downs since bitcoin was given a price, many early holders might have sold their coins when they came across the "all-time high", without knowing the higher price in the future. I guess very few of them still holding their coins. So we might just see a few sudden multibillionaires pop up.

However, they will eventually need to spend those coins right? I guess this will help to redistribute those early coins to the late adopters.

This is true if you get in on the trend, I only found out about bitcoin through my wife and she is so gutted and cannot forgive herself for not buying a few hundred bitcoin when it was worth only a dollar at the time. I don't think she will ever quite get over that sigh.

Yeah Right...Thanks for the correction, already edited Smiley So much changes this bitcoin brings to our society, it create also an inspiration to other "geeks" to create their own altcoin. It also open a job opportunity like Cryptocurrency developer,Smart/block chain expert, smart contract etc ...

someone in the range of 10k-100k coin can still have at least half, which is still huge, i doubt they sold everything if they were really that smart

early adopter are still out there, waiting for better value to dump

The world's richest person, Bill Gates is supposed to be a geek, and if that label are being applied to people with knowledge, I would gladly wear that label and earn that kind of money, if that is what a geek is supposed to look like. We throw labels around without even thinking and we hurt other people's feelings. ^hmmmm^

I agree that they are new millionaire at this generation , and it is funny if you will imagine that the just started bitcoin and mining for fun and didnt know that it will go popular and will be used by many people around the world and then the price will go to it higher level so how can you imagine that they can be a millionaire because of the fun that they've just done  Grin

All going well hopefully everyone using bitcoin now can be classed as really adopter but it seems unrealistic now to expect bitcoin to rise up to 100k or even 10k. Probably the only millionaires will be those few left with 100s or even 1000s of coins.
