A small detail but the devil can be in it I hear.

as the run of V series is limited to the Halving event and the first un-numbered shipments were in Black Leatherette Etui. Many who really wanted one would have got a first batch coin in this configuration.

as such, the release now of a Red Leatherette Etui would make this particular item rarer?
Less time to halving, less Red's sold compared to Black etc, Thoughts?

Cases are worthless when it comes to coin collecting.  For example, if we talk about coins from US mint, when dealers/seller order a batch, they send the coins in capsules for grading and they dump the cases.  They throw them out or sell them for a buck or two if they want the hassle of that.
The only way to protect and value your physical btc coins is to get them slabbed/graded, in a long run, collectors don't care about what case it came in.  Besides, you can always look up the addy on the block explorer to determine when the coin is from.

Have you ever seen the case for the 2009 gold eagle relief coin? It's a beautiful case and I care about mine.

When you collect a lot of coins, the cases end up just taking space and making it more expensive to store them.  They take up an inordinate amount of space!

I disagree about cases being worthless. I know my 10 BTC Casascius Coins came in airtites as well as display boxes. The thought that somebody would prefer them to be in a cheap slab graded by a company notorious for being awful at grading coins is laughable to me.

It is a personal preference for some people but in the numismatic field the cases are worthless you can call up a coin dealer and get a truckload of whatever mint cases.  When NGC starts grading or slabbing them (working on it!) you won't have same opinion perhaps as you do about ANACS (I don't value their grades either Smiley )

a numismatic evaluates only the coin while a true collector can add a symbolic value to the "entire collection" , coin + box (red/black are not the same) in this case

I tend to keep the boxes even if I get them graded. Reason being, should I happen to sell it, I'd rather be able to give the buyer the original stuff that came with it. That's just me, though. Wink
