First you should tell us which wallet are you using because not every wallet has the option to sign a bitcon message, some other do not provide private key but you are able to sign a message(like coinbase). Once you sign them you can check if it is valid by verifying here: https://tools.bitcoin.com/verifier.html

yes this is one the best topic that explain how to sign a message with your btc address.
you can use also blockchain wallet Wink but not all cloud wallet have this function!
