Hi All,

Is there any ongoing (live) Bitcoin projects based on Erlang?

I have searched this forum, but no luck:

BitEN is not mainteined anymore
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155476.0

Bitcoin message verifier is not updated for 3 years
https://github.com/ningzhang/bitcoin-message-verifier

I'm surprised ((
Is it any reason why Erlang is not used for Bitcoins?

Is there any reason to use it instead of well-known c++/java/python?

Yes, two reasons (for me):

- integration with the rest of the infrastructure
- maintenance of the homogeneous environment

Erlang is widely used for heavy loaded gaming/gambling sites on backend side, so Bitcoing integration seems to be a natural feature.

Actually, my question is a bit different.

Is it reasonable to develop BitCoin libraries for Erlang, is there a need for it, or am I just alone? Smiley

The answer depends on your goals.
If you want to learn bitcoin technology or/and erlang language - these are the reasons to start.
If you want to earn money or/and create great software - i doubt that erlang is good for this.

Thank you, sounds reasonable!
