I have to start mining but I don't know if the components I'm buying are good for mining LiteCoins or ETH.

My components:

1. GPU - ASUS Nvidia GT 730 4 GB DDR3 128 bit

2. CPU - AMD Athlon X4 840 3.1 GHz Quad Core

Are the components good for mining? I know they are fast and great for gaming but I don't know about mining.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

buy a 1070 for $430 on newegg it can get 37MH under ubuntu at 145w, for me it's worth the money at that rate

the 480 will most likely be the same in term of watt per performance, inital cost will also be around the same on the performance ratio

Is the CPU enough or is it too weak for mining?

I can't really afford that, I was just wondering if the hardware I'm going to buy is strong enough to mine. I guess I'll use it only for gaming, it's a good card and proccessor although.

Forget about mining LTC unless you buy a powerful Scrypt miner. There are still some one the market that will give you a profit and the new A4 is due out soon. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1251930.100

Forget mining Litecoin on ANY GPU - the best are very far inferior to the ORIGINAL Scypt-capable GC3355 ASIC, and that early ASIC is already unprofitable unless you have free electric.

Your GPU is VERY VERY weak for Ethereum, even if it's a 2GB model - for perspective, the GTX 750ti 2GB only manages 3-4 MH/s ballpark on Ethereum despite being quite a bit more powerfull than the GT730.

Even for gaming that's a pretty weak card - I'd go to at LEAST a GTX 950 (pretty inexpensive and viable for ETH mining at 10-11 MH/s, though more on the basis of decent hash/W ratio not so great on hash/$).

It's a 4 GB graphics card not 2 GB. It can handle almost every game (maybe not unoptimized junk).  What about the CPU?

What about the CPU?

A lot of people seem to use the Asrock H81 Pro BTC board with a Celeron G1830 type cpu so you should be ok on the cpu front. Your GPUs will do most of the hard work when mining.

First of all, forget the Litecoin mining. It's not profitable at all to mine it right now, especially if you have Ethereum available.

Now about the specifications of the computer you're about to purchase, see, CPU mining is not much profitable. So instead, take my suggestion and buy a core 2 duo instead of quad core, and the money which you'll save here, spend it on the budget of the GPU and buy a good one (I'd recommend R9 280X). Then you can mine ethers with your GPU.

The only thing that hits a CPU hard in Ethereum mining is DAG file creation - my machines running Semperon 3000+ need a few minutes for that, but it interleaves with mining so it's not a noticeable slowdown issue even with that OLD low-performnace (by current standards) CPU.

BTW - your GPU from what I've looked at about it is about a tossup to a little WEAKER than the on-chip GPU of the current A10-78xx series - which is considered to be ENTRY LEVEL at best and does not handle many higher-end games well if at all. Works fine on stuff that's 3+ years old, or stuff that isn't heavy graphics-intensive though.

I wouldn't try to run current high-end FPS games or Ashes of the Singularity on it....
