One of my Antminer S9 just stopped hashing . I'm away from the miner right now , asked my friend to do some basic troubleshooting for me  on that S9 . Power Cycle did not helped , he can not access to the miner web interface . Cooling fans running ... Power supply tested ok ...

There is any img file available for S9 to create a bootable sd card ? I checked Bitman website , there is a img file available for s7 ,S5 and lower miners .

Before sending back the miner I would give a try to boot from sd card , and reflash the firmware ...

You can not  sent back  the miner.

Quote from: Bitmain
Warranty:

1. A 90-day warranty is provided starting from the shipping date. To avail this warranty a Repair ticket must be generated by the customer on Bitmain's website. Overclocking the miner will void the warranty immediately.

2. All sales are final. No refunds will be granted. Defective miners can be repaired for free if they fall under the Bitmain warranty policy. After the warranty period, machines can be repaired at the cost of parts and labor.

3. The following events will void the warranty:

     a. Customer removes/replaces any components by himself without receiving permission from Bitmain first;

     b. Damage caused by poor power supply, lightning or voltage surges;

     c. Burnt parts on hash boards or chips;

     d. Miner/boards/components damage due to water immersion or corrosion due to wet environment.

4. For all repairs or RMA, within warranty or not, customer must return the defective parts at his/her own expense after opening a support ticket and troubleshooting with Bitmain's instructions.

5. Bitmain will cover shipping cost when shipping a replacement unit within the warranty period.

6. If you notice there are some loose heatsinks when you receive the miner, please inform us by email to info@bitmaintech.com within 3 days from the date the package is received according to UPS/DHL/FEDEX's website.

7. Bitmain does not take any responsibility for or compensate for any loss as result of downtime caused by delays in transportation as a result of custom formalities or other reasons.

I did not asked about the warranty process , but thank you for the copy and paste from the bitmain website Smiley I think all of us read that ,who had some trouble before Wink Im pretty much familiar with the repair process , and ticket system  Smiley But im sure , lot of us have a bad experience with Bitmain support , and the slow respond time.

My question is : There is any img file available for S9 to create a bootable sd card ? then reflash the firmware  ?
Thank You!

Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but https://www.bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720160615035302444KTs9xiKF06B2 has S9 firmware downloads. There's also a menu link on the side claiming to have instructions for flashing firmware to an SD card.

I found that firmware and the instructions " Flashing SD card with image - Tools and Instructions to Image SD card" , but the instructions did not say anything about S9 . I used this method on some of my S7 before .

Can not find the s9 image on the Bitmain site . Could you provide a download link ? Smiley
The only new file i found for S9 is a newer firmware named : "s9 firmware -20160608-550M,11.85T MD5 " from that i think the newer S9 batch 4 will be clocked to 550 , with 11.85TH/s ....

After 3 days i got back from my vacation and went to the server room , to find out what happened with one of my S9 B1 ... My friend was not able to bring back the miner to life (switched power supply , reset , restarts ) , so last night i started the troubleshooting Smiley the miner was off line for more than 3 days , it was unplugged from the power source during that time . When i plugged the miner back i was able to access to the web interface for a few sec , then its Disappeared from the network again, no access to web interface no hashing. Disconnected the miner from power , waited a few minutes then plugged back , web interface was available again and started to flashing this firmware right away to the miner : https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3554 .. After the successful flashing the miner started hashing . But .. under ASIC status i have  two "x" see screen shoot .

Maybe a few restart going to fix that ... The miner is hashing fine in the past 10 hours with a fresh flashed firmware . It was hashing around 13.3TH/s before went offline more than 3 days ago  , that is why i upgraded the firmware from that link ...
Thank You for the download link philipma1957 Smiley

Update: Just restarted the miner , looks like everything is back to normal , all ASIC is working and the miner is hashing around 14TH/s with the new firmware

BIG THANK YOU FOR philipma1957 Smiley

Hey Philip,
Can you please point me to your link regarding fan speeds and why it's not good to run at 100% lest you lose power and fry the boards when power comes back? I saw it recently but can't find it again and search returns 100's of results.
Thanks!

I never set fans past 90% on any antminer product or avalon product or spondoolies.

At to where that post is .  Your guess is as good as mine.  I have made more then 16,000 posts  since I joined the forum.

If i pull up my list of posts I can spend an hour reading through them  tracking what I said.

I never said exactly what you said I said, but a good rule of thumb on more powerful fans is try to find a setting between 70% and 90%

as  95 to 100%  are hard on the fan itself
the controller board
use more power  for the last top rpm

lastly  in general they don't cool better then  90%

I also do not set gpu fans higher then 90% for same reasons.

the exception is this cooler for gpus since I use lower rpm fans with it and do not pull much power

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242030&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=gpu_cooler-_-35-242-030-_-Product

simply the best air cooler ever for a gpu.  if size is not an issue

[...]

Thanks for the reply.
I know what you mean about MANY, MANY posts. LOL. That's why I couldn't find what I was looking for.  Wink

I THOUGHT I had read in one of your posts about NOT setting the fan speed to automatic or else if power is lost, it may come back and fry something. I could be very wrong about the gist of your post. I've been reading a lot in the last few days and I could be confused.

Right now I have three S7's and I was running them all on automatic.
I have changed that now on all three machines to run at 90% speed. The temps went up very slightly but still within spec. The only one that showed a decrease in fan RPM is a single-fan S7 which went from 6,000 RPM to 5,400 RPM.

I'm running two machines at 700 MHz and one at 675 because it tends to run hotter for whatever reason (perhaps because it's in the middle of the rack).

I will have my S9 on Wednesday or Thursday of next week whenever UPS gets around to it.

Anyway, sorry if I misunderstood something. I doubt I will be able to find that post again.  Grin
Thanks for all of your good information on the boards and on the Kano pool. (That's where I am mining.)

Best.

I had this same problem with Antminer R4, which is basically almost the same board -wise.
I would suggest you to do the "IP Report button reset".

See this link for instructions:
https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3957
Quote from: Bitmain
IP Reporter Restore (The miner will automatically revert to factory default firmware)
This method is only applicable to the miner as below. (The SD card slot of the miner should be on the left of Ethernet interface.

Usage: Please power off the miner, then hold down the IP Reporter and don’t release it. At the same time, please power on the miner. Releasing the IP Reporter after 5 seconds, the machine will automatically restore factory settings.
