Diversification is the first rule of investment  Smiley . This is my list of coins that I have personally invested in and could vouch for as genuine.

1) Bitcoin - for obvious reason is the bulk of my portfolio.
2) ETHEREUM - Some people seem to hate it, but is the second most popular coin with major resources for further development.
3) NEM - Bought a stake but sold too soon  Sad now bought back.
4) NXT - Old coin that I thought was dying, but bought back because of ARDOR
5) Maidsafe - Just like the message of the coin, decentralized internet.

Others

Litecoin - genuine coin but dont see any future, I lost money mining it.

What do you guys think? are they any other genuine coins with innovative future, proven coins with decent volume and credibility.

You can't really hedge against volatility with only virtual currency. It's still gonna be a risky investment despite the diversification.

Not bad but there is room for improvement. Keep digging for genuine unique coins, you're still missing 3-5 of them in your portfolio.

ARDOR - Blockchain as a Service. Three birds with one stone. /// Do not hold NXT at exchanges, NXT wallets: core+lite, mobile Android

What makes these "genuine".  It looks like 'List of popular/hyped coins that I bought, hoping they would go to the moon'.

"Genuine" is definitely the questionable word here.

Lol, 😀. I love this guy. But seriously I agree Bitcoin is king but surely you can't deny the possibility that they are other decent genuine coins that might become successful in the longrun, to not to invest a little amount in other cryptos would be hubris.
