b]What happened:: [/b]
He was selling £20 Steam Gift Card (~$27) for 60% off (~$16). The user was unwilling to use escrow, so to protect my self to some extent I agreed to send him $5 before he send me the giftcard code. I told him that the rest of $11 will be sent after I redeem the card. He agreed. But the moment I sent $5, he became offline on Skype and gave no response.

So you got allready scammed 3 times here correct?

By this time you should know to use escrow only no matter how big or small the amount of trading is.

3 Times got scm but you never learning
There is no way secure money by sending it with portion batch

Always use escrow for trade no matter how much your transaction, also dont you feel is scammy when people sell gc with 60% off
But i fell sorry for your loss,

I have had 3 total trades here, out of them 2 were scams.

I wanted to use escrow but when the seller was not agreeing, I become a little less inclined too partially because I tried to seek escrow previously for another deal but one person said "the deal is too small for me to act as an escrow" and another never replied. Sad

Well hopefully now you will never do any of this shady deals again, if you can not find the right escrow on this forum you can still use www.bitify.com this website is automated escrow and the amount does not matter.

Seriously, Why would he risk sending you a $26 card for $5 in case you scammed him?

I dont think someone would scam someone for as little as $5 would they?

$5 is hardly a risk. you could earn more than that by looking down the back of your sofa.
