What is the proper way to abbreviate the Satoshi? Satoshi already is proper abbreviation of Satoshi Nakamoto. If smallest current measurement of value called Satoshi needs abbreviation, it does not make sense. It is like asking how to properly abbreviate atoms. Satoshis are infrequently used on price tags so there is no need. When 1$=1 Satoshi then we could borrow the double strike S (dollar sign) and use it. At that price point Satoshis will be used worldwide.

Well the wheel hasn't been invented until it is recognized as being invented. Sad but true. lol There is an ISO section for it in the wiki.

BTC - BTC mBTC - BTM satoshi - SAT But there's no absolute right way or wrong way, is there? The above are neat, however, and used by the game Dragon's Tale. I used to think of bitcoin almost exclusively in two-decimal fiat style until fairly recently. Online gaming and the relentless rise of the BTC exchange prices has shifted me more and more into BTM, µBTC and satoshi orientation, though. If the price keeps rising exponentially as it has recently, I will probably be changing my default Bitcoin-Qt unit to mBTC sooner than I would've previously envisaged! ETA: PS any bets as to when Mt Gox will start quoting exchange rates per mBTC instead of per full BTC?

What about Altcoins? There are also satoshis...
What do you think about:
1 BTC = 100,000,000 s BTC 1 LTC = 100,000,000 s LTC 1 DOGE = 100,000,000 s DOGE
Would that be an option?

What is the proper way to abbreviate the Satoshi?
Bitcoins are BTC Satoshi are ______?
Thank you.
I've always simply gone with "sats". What about Altcoins? There are also satoshis...
What do you think about:
1 BTC = 100,000,000 s BTC 1 LTC = 100,000,000 s LTC 1 DOGE = 100,000,000 s DOGE
Would that be an option?
I believe the Litecoin equivalent of "satoshi" is "litoshi" or "liteoshi" and the Dogecoin equivalent is "dogetoshi".

Why not make it interesting and just change it a little? 1s@t=0.00000001BTC Just replace the a with @ and you have something with a different meaning? I hate it when sites use bits and I have to jump to preev.com to do the conversion. Yes I am too lazy to think.

I believe the Litecoin equivalent of "satoshi" is "litoshi" or "liteoshi" and the Dogecoin equivalent is "dogetoshi". All this ...toshis are not realy handy because of their length.

I just can't see how satoshis can be treated in the near future as are appropriate way to price products. In the near future? Of course not. In the distant future? Possibly. If you believe that Bitcoin will one day replace fiat money completely, then it would have a market cap of about $21 trillion. With a price of $1 million per coin, the value of 1 satoshi would be equivalent to 1 cent today and 100 satoshis (or 1 bit) would be the equivalent of 1 dollar. In such a world, a stick of chewing gum might cost you 90 satoshis. A song on iTunes (or whatever its future equivalent is) might cost you 50 satoshis. Even if most products aren't priced using satoshis, you would still have to deal with them when receiving your change at the supermarket, for example. Oh how I wish I lived in such a world...

0.01 µBTC
or
10 nBTC
Either one is correct. Either one works just fine. They both very clearly mean 1 satoshi without any ambiguity. Personally, when spoken, I like the sound of either 10 "nans" or 10 "nanos".
