In the coming days when the government will legalize bitcoin and puts up regulatory rules and policies on the use of bitcoins it is a prerogative of the government to monitor the bitcoin transactions as well as your bitcoin wallet. For how many years bitcoin has been operating outside the hands of the government and many illegal operations especially in the black market is taking place without being traced. This coming events may be helpful to the stability of bitcoins in its operation and security.

I would not give the government direct access to my wallet's, not that they need it in the US.
IMHO, BTC is like cash if you really want to know where it came from you can figure it out, If you have enough time and money

But with BTC being pseudo Anonymous it is already possible to piece together some of the trail that tell who's address is who's.
Though there has to be a decent amount of activity in order for the pattern to emerge.
An old interesting article about it https://www.technologyreview.com/s/518816/mapping-the-bitcoin-economy-could-reveal-users-identities/

I am sure someone will have some other ideas but if you want your BTC to stay anonymous you need multiple wallet's and a reliable mixing service.

Or just use MONERO to "mix" with.

The best feature of Bitcoin is that's anonymous ; so i wouldn't give the government details about my wallet address, and i don't think that it will easy mission for governments to check wallet address of their citizens.

I saw this a while back and your comment reminded me of it.

This was a normal US citizen that traded BTC in person and got tagged as potentially being bad and look what they did to him.
So in general BTC is pseudo anonymous but if a government wants to get you, it really doesn't matter.

No it's not like that. They are not allowed to viewed our bitcoin wallets even bitcoin will become legalize.

It's just as same principle as money stored in banks where a special request must be sent first before someone can look at your account and that will be same goes with the bitcoin wallet.

I will agree to this its not like it is harmful when government looks into our btc wallets. Just like Anti Money Laundering Act (AMLA) that looks at your bank account if it has huge and questionable deposit. When government looks into our wallet it will make bitcoin free from being used for selling drugs and other illegal items. This time criminals will be more careful as they will think twice before they use bitcoins including hackers.

government  can always look into bitcoins wallets thru  the public ledger and bitcoin being globally adopted and it anonymity that is all they can do they cannot regulate bitcoin., imo government only want to regulate is  bitcoins converting to fiat from those exchnges and those online shop that accept bitcoins.

Bitcoin is legal to use in most countries. There`s no need to be "legalized".

Sooner or later this will happen and the government will monitor bitcoins.

Bitcoin is a currency and an accet so you have to pay taxes for your btc.

If the time comes that the government is allowed to peep into my bitcoin wallet, there must be a reason for it. One is, they are looking at how I do my transactions and what my sources of bitcoins are. Another is they might want to put taxes on what I have and how they can have a slice of my bitcoin pie.

Probably not. Currently there are no regulations set around here in regards to using, spending and trading bitcoin. If in case the government sees an opportunity to tax it (which I think would not happen in any way) they will. :/

Possibly if government gets access to view our wallets, soon almost part of the users will stop using bitcoin. Because the anonymity gets vanished away.

They can go through every block on the whole chain looking for all my addresses if they wish but they will never find them all.
I have so many paper wallets printed off that have been created safely offline that they won't know who owns them.

They can look at any of my posted addresses if they want, can't stop em looking at somethings that's public.
If i wanted those addresses to remain private i would not have created a transaction with them on the public ledger (blockchain)

Is this hypothetical ? What government are we talking about? Im not sure how they would manage to look into your wallet anyway since you can split your money up into so many different wallets. this would end up being a massive exercise for any government costing more than i think they would want to put out unless they could recover a large portion somehow.

government can already see my bitcoin wallet and check all my transactions because of the way bitcoin works. regulations won't change anything about this fact. so it really doesn't matter if i like it or not because they can and are already doing it as we speak.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.
