Best method for purchasing LiteCoins?

So back in the glory days (2011/04), I spent $14 to buy 20 BTC.  I then promptly forgot about BTC for two years and just now realized I'm sitting on almost $900.

This has my speculatory interests piqued to say the least.

I'd like to dump perhaps $100 USD into LiteCoin, but I don't want to give up any of my BTC.  Does the following seem like the least-BS way to get LiteCoin?

* Send $100 check to CampBX [$0.40 for a stamp]
* Do a "Spend-X Trade" for $100 of bitcoin [fees unknown]
* Transfer out (withdraw) my newly purchased bitcoins to my local bitcoin wallet [fees unknown]
* Transfer new bitcoins out from my local wallet into Vircurex [free]
* Buy LiteCoins at market price from Vircurex [1 LTC fee]
* Transfer newly traded-for LTC into local wallet [1 LTC fee]

Is this the simplest safe method or are there better paths to LTC (other than mining a minuscule amount at a time)

You could combine these two steps by sending your coins straight to vircurex or BTC-e

That's true - Aside from that I think this will have to be the most solid way to move USD in for low fees at this point.  I'm sad it's not like the old days where I could buy coins with Paypal at actual websites (when they didn't have much value and nobody was trying to rip anyone off_)

What deposit method have you been using to bring value into BTC-e to do your LiteCoin purchases?

Vircurex is good, but you will generally get more litecoins for the same price if you buy on btc-e. They have higher volume, lower trading fees, and lower withdrawal fee.

I've been looking around and Dwolla seems OK so far as getting USD in and out of CampBX.com - it looks like it's just $0.25 to transfer in and $0.25 to transfer out. 

Seems easy enough - now I just have to wait for the account to be verified.

Haven't used btc-e, but I'll second Vircurex being good.  Been using it myself to buy litecoins lately.

My only beef with BTC-e is that they appear very Russia-centric and don't have widely known US-based USD funding sources.  The funding sources they do have for USD are either non-english or down.
