It depends on which country you are living in, I am buying from localbitcoins since last one year as for me that is the best site and I also have few traders whom I know personally, so can afford to trust it.

I use Unocoin to buy/sell bitcoins as the website is trusted and have completed 3 trades successfully. However, it's for Indians only and for other payment methods, you can try Virwox. LBC and Paxful are very risky and their escrow service is not that great. Coinbase only allows US users to buy bitcoins and Xapo rates are expensive. The website you mentioned hasn't explained it in detail.

It's tough to find quick buyers on Localbitcoins as well and here LBC accounts are being sold with high trust ratings which makes even LBC not a good method to safely buy bitcoins. It's better to use automatic exchanges mentioned by the payment processors rather than trust unknown users whom you haven't met ever.

The blog article doesn't mention something new and it would be better if it had more screenshots and mentioned a step-by-step process of buying and selling bitcoins safely. I plan to write an article or make a video soon. The best sites I could recommend is Xapo and Coinsbank. I have used these two websites.

Buy bitcoin in places where reliable never buy at new sites that provide low prices or promotions nice to attract new customers even though they are not necessarily scams but so much nicer to buy bitcoin in the sites that has been trusty.

it will bette if you can arrange to buy bitcoin from a local person or from some one whom you know very much. because being new it will be difficult for you to decide that from where should you buy bitcoins.

Has anyone actually had any problems from sites like local bitcoins?  I've used them a few times and never heard of anything unsafe.

You just have to make sure the person you're dealing with has a good reputation, and read the feedback others have left on him.

Circle.com is probably the easiest/fastest way to buy Bitcoin plus they're trusted and have good security. You can use any Visa debit or credit, I think they even accept prepaid Visa cards. However if you don't have access to Circle where you are then LocalBitcoins is definitely the best choice. It'll take a little longer, especially if you want to wait for highly trusted traders to be online. On the upside, you'll get to choose from a huge variety of payment methods.

What kind of verification does Circle require?

I think the reason I've never heard of any problems with local bitcoins is that all I've ever dealt with is buying bitcoin.  I've never actually sold any in it but maybe if i do in the future in going to have to check feedback.  I'm guessing charge backs happen quite often with hacked accounts etc?

Depends. If you only use trusted vendors, it's much safer. What are you interested on selling Bitcoins for?

Take into account that selling for PayPal is always risky, regardless of the feedback.
