BTC/TRC: 317.2194

So what does this mean? People trade LTC like it's going out of style on BTC-E

Maybe it is going out of style. Smiley

Maybe both LTC and BTC-E are going out of style!

Okay, trash talk mode over ... I'm looking for BTC-E volume figures to compare, and can't find them.  Links would be appreciated.

Yeah vircurex is not the main volume exchange for LTC.

Moot point.

Nice try to tout TRC. The Retarded Coin.

That's because most people serious about LTC trade it on btc-e where you get the fairest market rate. Earlier this week on btc-e LTC hit over a MILLION LTC traded in a single day. Add in the ltc/usd and it hit 1.5 million.

LTC 1 - TRC 0.

But let's not stop there. Let's not look at pump and dump figures like trc and look at the figures that REALLY count. Market capitalisation:

Litecoin:   232269 BTC
Terracoin: 7325 BTC

Yes that's right, Litecoin is 30 times larger in market capitalisation. Yes, thirty. (figures from dustcoin)

LTC 2 - TRC 0

Does Litecoin have ASICs threatening to 51% the network? No. Just the other day a user had greater than 51% of the hashing power on Terracoin. Seems very safe LOL.

LTC 3 - TRC 0

Do miners have it better on TRC? According to dustcoin right now:

TRC Profitablility: 110%  (fluctuates below 100% to above 100% throughout the day)
Litecoin Profitability: Rock solid 169%

LTC 4 -  TRC 0

Oh well. TRC has to have some services or infrastructure in place if it's so awesome right? LOL. No. TRC is pure hype coin, bubble is going to burst, no-one cares about services. Is there a silk road for TRC? No. Payment processor in the works? No.

LTC 5 - TRC 0

I wonder where all the bitcoin miners are going to go when ASICs flood them out? Will it be to another coin like TRC where there are ASICS already lmao or will it be to Litecoin which is designed to be as ASIC resistant as possible (maybe not foolproof but it will take a breakthrough worthy of academia to find an efficent way to parallel compute Scrypt - read on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrypt and see if you believe some kid in a basement can really beat that).

I could go on but I have things to do.  Cheesy

The next few weeks could be crucial for TRC. A few weeks ago I would have said that it's likely it won't make it once ASICs become readily available. However, that was when the network hash rate was only around 10 GH/s. Today the hash rate is over 500 GH/s and has been on the rise.

ASICs could have very well hurt Terracoin, but if Terracoin survives the initial release and ends up with a large group of miners using ASICs on TRC network then it might just have a shot at making it long term. It's still a gamble at this point, but the similarities Terracoin has to Bitcoin might make it an attractive option to Bitcoin miners. It also offers another coin for ASIC miners so that they're not just stuck on Bitcoin which could be very appealing.

However, Litecoin has some pretty strong points too. It's been around longer and thus has a larger user base and more merchants that accept it. In the last couple of weeks a lot more merchants have come out and supported it. If Atlantis succeeds it could have a very positive impact on Litecoin.

I think we could see some interesting things out of both of these coins in the coming weeks.

If the price of TRC falls...watch out...miners will go elsewhere. GPUs cant compete with asics. Inevitably TRC will fail because ASICs will mine the "fuck" out of it.

Yeah but then they could finally get around to applying the merged-mining patches and go merged, who knows, they might not be able to keep up with NaMeCoin but could they give IXCoin a run for its money? I0Coin? GRouPcoin? DeVCoin? CoiLedCoin? GeistGeld?

Yup they could, if miners accept it then you will see a forked chain if MM is implemented by a third party.

The only reason ASIC's are on TRC is profitability. Right now TRC is at 201%.

ASIC seems to be going in and out of TRC as the ratio goes above or under BTC.  Difficulty is doing some yo-yo lately.

Because of how quickly TRC retargets difficulty it makes it quick to raise beyond profitability and then quick to drop down to be very profitable. Although I doubt it's an ASIC. Although they exist, there are very few of them out there.

Just because Litecoin exploded, a bunch of people are trying to make a quick buck buying into other cryptocoins with no research.  Hey, not saying TRC wont take off, just saying if you are looking to invest in other cryptocurrencies, do your homework first.  You would have better luck going to the local cornerstore buying scratch offs.

As a veteran scratch off player, I can personally attest that I have made much more money investing in fledgeling cryptocurrencies (bitcoin included) then I have EVER made at the lottery.

This isn't really as much gambling as it might seem. It's about believing in an idea- a new way to organice the economy, trade and indeed the world. What we are doing here, if successful, will be one of the greatest reorganisations of money since the invention of banking and paper money.
