The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I'm sorry for you : you can't. You can forget everything that is 1 Gb for mining Ethereum. Even 2 Gb is barely feasable, so you can totally forget about this. And that's not even a real graphic card... You should buy a RX 470 or a 1060. Just wait to see what's best and buy it.

Forget the mining with a notebook, no matter if you manage to get a very good dedicated graphics card in a laptop, you won't be able to mine anything with that. In result, you're only gonna burn off your notebook.

The only way you can enter the altcoin GPU mining world is by buying an average CPU with a good PSU and GPU. Search a lot about the GPU before purchasing it, in this section of forums, you can find some good information about the mining specs of graphics card you'd like to purchase. You should have like ~$200 budget for the card BTW.
