receiving coins with an out of sync wallet

Hello everyone. Im back and still a noob. So i bought some coins while my wallet was synchronizing with the network. It was like 97% caught up. Ive used this coin source several times and he always came thru. He told me he sent the coins but they havent landed yet. Its still syncing and I still dont have then. However, I was expecting them to show up right away as Unconfirmed as I am connected to the network.
I had an experience once before where I had coins but they were located further down the block chain and took some time to show up.

Assuming he sent them, since this transaction took place last night these coins wont show up until its 99.9x% done right? Im trying not the worry. Looking for answers before I bother the guy. Not his fault I dont know quite how it works yet,

Right. If you want to stop worrying, look up the address you used on blockchain.info and see if your transaction is listed there. If your coins show up on blockchain.info, they'll show up in your wallet once it's synchronised.
