I've heard various discussions about cards and speeds - which is the best for minting bitcoins?  The machine I want to use only has space for one card.

I've been told that the ATI 5970 can do about 530Mh/sec, is this accurate?  Are there other cards that can do better?

Please advise.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Don't buy nvidia if you want to generate bitcoins.
I would suggest an AMD/ATI Radeon HD 58xx/59xx
