After finding the defect earlier, I was worried I may have missed some more. Unfortunately, I did.  Sad I will contact the respective buyers/reservers shortly to find some alternative. In the mean time, I have reserved the remaining non-defect coins until all coin defect issues are ironed out. Here is a list of the coins I have found with out noteworthy defects:

32 - scratches and 2 milkspots
53 - small scratch patch
54 - general scratching
61 - scratch and two small tarnish circles
62 - a spot on the raised quarter
75 - big fingerprint
86 - normal and hairline scratch patch

Again, I apologize for this. I am trying to avoid any unhappy customers.

How big a fingerprint we talkin' here on #75??  Cheesy
That was going to be my funded one Tongue

It's fairly big. Sad not sure why I missed it first time round! ...And also not sure why an employee from the mint would leave a fingerprint in the first place.

One of the things I had to employ in my recent run of coins was take a period of time to closely inspect the coins once they arrived.

I got a mountable magnifying glass with an adjustable stand and used it with appropriate lighting to see blemishes, scratches, milk spots, missing gold plating. Of course no coin is perfect. But I did find some that needed to be "dealt" with.

It's a very tedious task. Very good of you to do this with your batch of coins.  Smiley

Thanks, smoothie  Smiley I am realizing very quickly that the improper lighting can very easily trick an untrained eye. Even though it's unlikely that I'll make more coins, learning how to inspect coins properly is valuable skill on its own.

Natural light vs white light vs tinted light all produce different variations of issues with coins, at least in my own experience.

As Miffman eluded to you can see a coin in natural light and it looks good even with a magnifying glass but you change the lighting and the issues become more obvious/apparent.

Definitely a good skill to have and be aware of when dealing with gradeable coins.

All reservations numbers with a strikethrough are coins that have been ordered and paid for. I will update all the groupbuy's coins once I have received payment for it.

A few small parcels have been shipped out. I will PM your tracking shortly. Please note that any orders placed directly through me from now will ship next week (18th July). All subsequent orders will be shipped shortly on some working day.

Thank you!

Hi miffman, nice job with the coin. Is my calculation off or are these going for about $50 each and that is unloaded, correct? And they are made of bronze? Not sure if I am missing something here but that seems to be a high price point no?

Hi f*D, thanks! Yes, the price in USD or any other currency is a bit more expensive than other coins. I have been working on the coin for a long time, and all coins and coin components were purchased in BTC some time ago (months). This is why the price is static in BTC. Should there be any massive price swings (say to 1$ or even 2000$), the price won't change.

Hope that clears things up  Smiley

Just a quick update:

-Sales are halted. They will resume once the group buys finish. On the assumption that all works out smoothly, there will be 6 coins without significant defects for sale.

-Some packages have been shipped. I have PM'd out tracking numbers if your parcel was shipped. I will try to ship out more smaller parcels this next week and next week.

-The groupbuy will update today. EU buyers will need to pay Mitchell when he updates the thread, which will be soon. Sorry for the slight delay. In the meantime, I have still been assembling coins from the US group buy even though the group buy payments have not been received by me. There are still quite a few coins to be assembled, but I will try to get to all of them as quickly and as best as I can.

-The OP is not up to date.

-I may auction the lot of discard coins and defect coins together at some point. I may just throw them away instead.

Thanks for all your patience thus far!  Smiley

Found an interesting offset on 022/100
there maybe a few others out there. so far other coins do not have this offset.  I guess it's an error or a VAMish like situation.  I like this!

Just a quick update:

All unfunded coins for the group buy are assembled, funded coins to be assembled. I will have more time per day this weekend to assemble them. Apologies for the slight delay, coin assembly is a bit more time consuming than I thought initially. Some smaller packages to go out soon.

Here is a list of all addresses to be used for funded BitPieces (PGP signed) http://pastebin.com/QuGhHZNY

On the lighter side, I realized that I may very well be the first physical cryptocoin maker on the continent  Grin Not that anyone is keeping track, but still cool I guess.
