How huge is the Bitcoin Invention in History?

If u think about history, inventing the wheel, electricity, industrial revolution, airplanes, computers, and all those nifty inventions that redefined the human life - do u feel that Bitcoin can be compared to this? Or is Bitcoin nothing really new and more of a simple digital reinvention of assets?

It may be a bit too early to decide on the importance of Bitcoin for human history. The importance of an invention depends almost exclusively on its success, not necessarily on its ingenuity. So we have to wait whether Bitcoin becomes a worldwide payment system used by billions of people or if it fails to reach mass adoption and is replaced by a different system.

But in my opinion, Bitcoin certainly has the potential to become one of the most important inventions in human history. Judging by the system's ingenuity, Satoshi Nakamoto is more worthy of receiving a Nobel price in economics than any other laureate before him. Bitcoin can reach an impact that equals that of the Internet.

I and also most of others have already compared bitcoin as a revolution in virtual currency and payment processor world. You can see how other payment processors have more than hundreds of billion in transaction every year, and bitcoin now have just started to take a pie out of that huge yearly volume. So yes bitcoin is much more safer than usual/traditional payment processors incuding online banking. Decentralized.... anonymous....Freedom......low fee......non refundable....These all are revolutionary evolution in field of currency by bitcoin.

I think time will tell, a bit too early at the moment to see how bitcoin itself will be seen historically, the blockchain however will probably have more of an impact on the history books as this will be adopted into many different industries and change the way a lot of companies work.

Bitcoins is a huge invention in the history of humankind. It is in the same stage where internet was 30 years ago !!!! Bitcoins are chaging the way we look at our daily lives. It has revolutionized our digital world making our financial works easier and safe.

Bitcoin is not the first digital money at all.
There had been several digital tokens before that.Even most of the fiat money of each nation is hold as digital numbers today.
What makes Bitcoin so special is that it is the first decentralized, cryptographically secured form of money.Big difference!
Imo it's invention is as big as the internet itself.The first time we were able to mimic a cash trade in a pure digital manner.The last missing piece since we are able to share data like information, pics, videos, music etc. over the internet.

Id say its a pretty big thing invention wise, its probably a bit too early yet to tell if it will go down in history because i believe there has been internet money before bitcoin (emoney i think) but not in the same decentralised way. i suppose in years to come if it or its successor becomes truly global with mass adoption then it will be considered more as a great invention.

Very true, Bitcoin public ledger is also the first public currency ledger you can check anytime in full to prove there is nothing unusual going on, also know as trustless currency because you dont need trust any authority anymore - you can check it yourselves instead. You cant do this with any other fiat currency as they dont have public ledgers thus you need to trust the authority everything is ok.

This gives a lot of trust to Bitcoin, and is indeed revolutionary invention in currency field. I wonder whether people going to use fiat in future as well, considering there is cryptocurrency alternative which is corruption free because everything is open and checkable by anyone, including the public ledger.

No. The impact of the invention of bitcoin is comparable to the above. It is the first time we can have financial freedom and save money in own pocket.

For me it is pretty unique in the sense that it is totally decentralized and the fact that it's the first time that we as humans solved the Byzantine Generals Problem So we have a piece of tech that

solved many problems and it was disruptive by nature. This will be seen as the next form of money in the future, even if it is not the Bitcoin token. So to the negative pessimists out there, please name

one technology that accomplished this feat.

people dont appreciate it as much right now, because not everyone knows about btc. only like 3% of people actually use bitcoin. but in the future if btc gets big itll be considered a big invention.

Bitcoin is a path breaking innovation because it changed the entire concept of online money. It came up with a concept that money can be mined through a computer program. It completely changes the thinking of existing online earners.

I think it is worth about 100 Nobel prize. It is the first time in the human history that we will use a non inflationary currency.

we wont really know for like 100 years how big the invention was. If it stays and gets people to open their eyes to crappy fiat and their printing presses and gets people using electronic currency then whether bitcoin dies or not it was a huge invention that led to more spin offs.  When I say people I mean the "masses".

But at this point its somewhere near the hair dryer and dishwasher but skies the limit
