Bitcoins have been here for a while, yet many don't understand what is it, why is it important and how one can use or participate in the movement. Can we bring diverse experience from this group and build a unique course through it?

Join the Stanford Crowd Course Initiative to collaboratively create online courses and share your knowledge with the world - receive valuable feedback from Stanford professors, demonstrate your expertise, impact education and get it published on our Stanford platform for larger audience.

Create a course on Bitcoin, in any language - any type of contribution helps. For questions, comment below or email me at rvaish@cs.stanford.edu. To apply and sign up, go to: http://crowdcourse.stanford.edu

Firstly, I gotta say this topic sounds more like service thread than bitcoin discussion. So you are part of online platform which offers online courses, correct?
So what if want to collaborate with your team, what it looks like - I imagine register on this site and write a course for you? That's it? I do it totally for free?

There are actually online courses about bitcoin such as from lynda.com and udemy.com. Bitcoin to be discussed inside a university is going to be cool. you might wanna invite miners.

Firstly, I gotta say this topic sounds more like service thread than bitcoin discussion. So you are part of online platform which offers online courses, correct?
So what if want to collaborate with your team, what it looks like - I imagine register on this site and write a course for you? That's it? I do it totally for free?

There you go and for FREE. Smiley  This will definitely help spread the word and if successful can also help bring its price up.

is it a good idea? yes.
it will be used? in my opinion, no...

like has been said by @enhu, we already have other courses, yet people still come to bitcointalk and create topics like "bitcoin vs banks", "bitcoin vs paypal"... question like these make me think if people understand what bitcoin is. so, like i said.. good idea? yes, will be used? no...

@Hazir - sorry, didn't know where to post, so posted in "discussion". This is an educational endeavor, so we're inviting voluntary contributions only. Once you are accepted, you'll meet other people from around the world and collaborate together to design and build the course.

@enhu - I agree that current courses exist on Udemy and Lynda, however, they don't really bring global or multiple perspectives at one place. If people from all over get together to design the course, it can have richer and more diverse content. Once the course is created, the raw content can be reused, edited to improve it further -- we keep it open to improvement. Additionally, we encourage course creation in any language. Imagine it wikipedia + open source initiative for courses. Also, how to invite miners? any specific thread/forum I should check out?

Thanks so much guys!
