I did that once. The dude deposited it into Bitcoinica to play around a bit, and it's still there. Well, whatever is left of it after the hackers took a part of it and the liquidator taking another lol

All of them Chinese, including my younger sister, my younger brother & a friend of mine. I also told them the addresses of a local BTC-trading exchange, as well as that of the Bitcoin Charts etc.

I told them to create a password on their clients and back up their private keys. Thanks for reminding.

I've read a lot about people gifting BTC to others/friends to get them started and many of them only started getting interested when they saw that the USD/ BTC was rising... Now is a good time to remind these people if they haven't touched their BTC in a year. Lets just hope they didn't wipe their computers

This is a great act of friendly generosity. I've distributed small quantities of bitcoin to random friends and family. I mailed my auntie a paper wallet, even. She's not that much of a technophile (apart from mobile phones) but she was really fascinated by Bitcoin and I spent the better part of an hour on the phone discussing it with her.

I just gave my nephew a bitcoin for his birthday. He is 17, perfect age for learning about Bitcoin before going into the real world.

I love giving Ƀ for births. I don't bother explaining much. Just that I do believe in this and it is intended to be for the kid once it is old enough to deal with it. I tell them that either the kid will know what a bitcoin is on his 18th or what birthday and buy a house or he might just as well throw it away. Sure I answer all questions asked to more details than might be good and some parents got interested but no big adoption yet . Well, one bought some $300 of bitcoin after that and I had to remind them that the one bitcoin of their daughter is not their bitcoin.

I've been giving away Casascius coins left and right to spread bitcoin awareness amongst my friends. I also email them links to setup wallets, check on charts, mt.gox, and of course a link to this forum. I figure the less computer savvy ones will just hang on to the coin for future savings, and the ones that understand right from the beginning will get a wallet and invest themselves. I've given away nine 1BTC coins so far.. well worth the awareness!

I wish I had a friend like you when I was learning about it. My not-very-tech-savvy friend told me about BTC a little over a year ago but he had no idea what he was talking about. I was upset because I am usually ahead of the curve on anything tech related. I've got a bit of an ADHD problem, so it took me a little while to understand. My friend's description of BTC over a year ago I guess it's like a paypal atm for your computer, or something like that..... no wonder I didn't understand it right away.

When I gave the Bitcoin to my nephew I showed him several locations for places to use it. I also told him he could just keep it for a while since I figured it would reach $100 some time this year. I hope he has checked it out by now, he will be pleasantly surprised.
