I have many friends who are complaining that they are really lonely,some of them even went to depression.
Good way to avoid that is having some kind of a pet or animal,it is relaxing having some fluffy cat in your house,it also helped many people i know

I think that depends from person to person. I, for example, hate to be alone. I must have someone by my side or in contact unleast.
