Online gambling is hard to trace by the government not unless you are involved in a bigtime or a member of a syndicate where you are being closely monitored. in my country online gambling is prohibited but the government cannot easily take actions to it. I do online gambling as long as I did not harm anybody, its my money and i have the right to do what I want to do with it.

If the rules are not strict in your country, then I really would not want to consider it illegal because the government apparently is not even making an attempt to want to stop it or make it a very punishable offence.

I believe in a country where it is considered illegal, anyone caught in the process of gambling or owning a casino will have to suffer a huge cane of the law, so in that case, even if someone wants to do it, they will have to keep watching their backs, and that is one kind of life I really do not fancy.

Anyone who is even going against the law of gambling in their country and still do it anyway, to me, I would say such a person is gradually close to being an addict or already an addict without even knowing it. How on earth will I want to go ahead doing something that my government frowns at and going ahead anyway to do it can get me jailed or at least face the repercussion of breaking the law. As long as it is illegal, it is illegal, so you should know better to stay away from it in that aspect if you do not want to face the law.

My country did not ban gambling because that would be a great source of tax that can be used in the country. Especially with a country with a lot to be developed.

I am not saying that banning gambling is wrong, I guess that will be based in their tradition, on what they view on Gambling or Online Gambling. I won't gamble if my country declares that gambling is illegal but it should also be clear if they are including crypto's as part of the ban. If they say that gambling is gambling then I think its better to obey than to be punished because of your desire to gamble even with crypto's.

I think in some areas gambling is legalized but only for one particular place is not public place, such as in Las Vegas, Macau, and so on. Gambling has become a profitable business for the government too, so I think we will see the legalization of gambling in the future

Why would someone risk their freedom just to gamble, right?

My family raised me away from gambling even if my grandmother and grandfather at  my father side loves gambling, I mean it is what they do every day. I think people still playing too although in their country, gambling is prohibited and illegal and they use VPN to visit the gambling site.
