Filipino poker players are some of the best I have seen.  Seriously.  They pay close attention to what is happening, and they usually sense when an opponent is holding a strong hand.  And that is about 90% of what is necessary to be a winning player.  But right now, President Rodrigo Duterte is tightening the screws.

For real they are. I have seen tournaments on TV where they have won the tournament sometimes even by sensing that other players were bluffing. I enjoy watching big poker tournaments on TV and Filipinos do quite well there. With a simple VPN anyone can bypass such restrictions from the government. I don't know a lot in technology but I think online gambling is very difficult to be banned. So to all Filipinos out there don't worry you will still have access to your favorite online casino with a simple VPN.

Asians in general have always been such professional gamblers and they literary gamble on anything. and Philippines people are one of those Asians with a very long history of gambling and so many different games, i doubt that this president can make any changes now after hundreds of years of gambling history.

I think btc gambling is covered in it. It is clearly stated that all form of online gambling must be banned because they are not paying tax to government.

Im with duterte about his decision on this law. Online casino must pay their tax. But if in case it will be banned. I think vps will bypass their security. Hahhaa.

Bad news and good news. The bad news is for those who expect the extraordinary profits in gambling or those wishing to hone his abilities in the game they love, while wish benefit. The good news is this could make the pencandu gambling that wants to get out but cannot, they can take advantage of this to come out in the gambling
you are really naive person, people never make big profit with gambling, it is kinda good news because people will stop wasting their time on such things

I don't think gambling will be banned entirely in the Philippines. the reason the president would like to have this banned is mainly because the government is having a hard time taxing online gambling institutions. I think they will find a way around this and not by banning it because a lot of people in the Philippines are in a way doing online gambling.
i also think the same way mate this action will only to take place with those online casino business which been operated without proper taxes so the President only wants to stop those who's taking advantage on it, so banning everything is not possible just those who's not following the government rules.

Yeah, this is the best thing to do. so the more people who have more advanced thoughts against gambling, and surely they already will have no intention to get huge profits in gambling, they just had a thought to looking for a entertainment

Well, if that's true, I think there's nothing wrong with that, I haven't seen the news yet or heard about it, but surely it will lessen those people who still have the guts to gamble even if they have nothing to eat or just wasting their time gambling instead of working...

i think that was including bitcoin gambling sites but for the gamblers who life at philippine do not be worry regarding this because many people from other countries says gambling with bitcoin is illegal but in the fact they still can do their gambling activities without any problem because gamblers will always find a way to gamble without caught by local authorities

it looks like the banning part is mostly talk than anything else and i think the president is mostly looking for money to take out through taxes.

maybe he is facing some budget problems that he wants to fill and solve through takin these taxes from gamblers.

And what's next? Banning the use of bitcoin because banks don't regulate it? I gamble sometimes for fun but I don't think government should ban gambling. They can implement a way to collect tax from it if that is what they want or put a surveilance if they want to moderate it but banning? I think that's ridiculous.

Yeah, poor countries' policy are ridiculous, like PH and China, they ban online gambling, China bans bitcoin for many times, but actually can't ban totally, it is impossible unless they cut down the internet connection.

If they try to ban online gambling in the philippines maybe they would  have a hard time on implementing it since internet is so vast and its not easy to ban all of those existing websites  especially to bitcoin based gambling sites  because  for sure  they dont know even about those sites i guess.

It's not so hard for them, government has the money to hire people to do those tasks, spying on gambling sites and activities and pretending as player, and might keep an eye on those public wifi's which might come true this coming years... But since there are only few bills that covers internet, perhaps that would make their moves slow...   Smiley

this news is mostly about gambling in general not just online gambling so they will close down the physical casinos first and also it is not that hard to block these websites. any site that is registered in their jurisdiction will be closed down and any other site will be blocked. you can still use TOR,... but still it is harder.

Yes they can only shut down physical casino and fiat based registered casino but it will be impossible for any country to stop bitcoin casino. They dont have fear about their citizen lossing being addictive but they care more about the tax they are not getting from these casinos.

Stopping physical casinos would be easy  if  the law is implemented  but not compared to stop on those online  gambling sites, yes you are right  they can easily be blocked  but people would  definitely find a way to gamble as you said  using that TOR would  be unstoppable i guess.

I have visited PH before, I have seen many real casinos there, but they don't allow online gambling? Doesn't make sense, maybe the government only cares about taxes.
