Hi All,

I am complete newbie in coin mining, Currently there is $0 cost for CPU and internet at my side. Can you suggest me how can I start mining ?

What is average returns for BTC mining through CPU? Is there any webpage miner or should I go with desktop client?

Thanks in Advance

Day's of CPU mining are long gone, you will not make any substantial amount at all with CPU even a great one.   If your mining Bitcoin you will need an asic, it is a must at this point.   With free electricity you have a good start.

Or GPU there is Ether but it takes a pretty good card to mine it.   I have some rigs up and running as we speak, but no standard computer all were made for mining purposes.  And if your trying to get a RX 480 (the new card) they are sold out most of the time.  But again no power so good start.

You honestly need a little starting capital to get in this game.

Yes, this is true what u say. However there may be some altcoins that can be only mined with cpu/gpu.
I don't know if it is lucrative, since ur computer may crash in a few years since computers are not made for mining.

Look high and low for CPU mineable coins. Best bet for CPU. DON'T mine for all that long or computer could burn out. Be careful and search the

Altcoin Announcements and check for threads with CPU in the title. That started me off in the beginning until I landed a couple miners.

You can not start mining without any investment you have to invest if you want to start mining, but now a days mining with a CPU is not profitable and it does not gives you much returns....

Forget about mining if you're still learning about Bitcoin. Don't even attempt it "for learning purposes". If you do, then you will most likely end up ruining your CPU with less than 100 satoshis to show for it. In fact, you can earn more from visiting multiple low-yield faucets in a day than you will in a month of mining Bitcoin with your CPU. Bitcoin mining is now done with dedicated hardware called ASICs, and those mine many millions of times faster than your average CPU.

If you are really intent on mining to earn a little profit, then try mining newly released altcoins and sell those on the various cryptocurrency exchanges.  I will not recommend any particular coin -- there are many to choose from on the Altcoin subforum. Make it a habit to do proper research on your own; that much is essential if you want to increase your Bitcoin holdings. At the very least, I will tell you to stay away from SHA256 and Scrypt coins when choosing an altcoin to mine. The SHA256 and Scrypt mining environments are heavily dominated by ASICs, and any easy-to-mine coin which uses that algorithm is most likely not worth your time to mine.

As a bonus, I will teach you how to fish. If, somewhere down the road, you decide that you want to mine Bitcoin with your CPU simply for the sake of learning, then go to www.google.com, locate the rectangular container where you can enter text on that page, and type a series of keywords that is appropriate to your needs. In this case, a good series of keywords is "how to start mining Bitcoin". I found exactly what you're asking for in less than a second. You're welcome.

Harsh!! But yes google can be your friend if you use it.

I agree CPU mining, even with the proper coins, is not so good anymore.
You may want to try some of the multi pools that allow you to mining in a CPU friendly algo and auto convert to BTC

You can not start mining with $ 0 because we know mining is an activity that does not cheap we have to use a PC with GPU or buying mining hardware.
BTC mining of cpu very rare, you instead will only damage your pc. Especially after halving today then you can bitcoin will be less.
maybe Minergate is your answer Cheesy https://minergate.com/ Thank you

He probably means he has free electricity, which means all his revenues will be profit.

I would still avoid it as it will cause tremendous sound and heat issues.

Since you have 0 power cost grab an ASIC plug it and forget it! but with CPU or even GPU its gonna be a lot harder, CPU mining no more profit, and GPU need lots of $$$ (to get decent ones) lots of testing in order to find a sweet spot hash/power/temp and check stabilitys
you are a lucky guy i can tell tho you and all the other with 0 zero power cost ! Smiley

I recommend you to read an article over here: https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/#/overview

and also use this calculator to check your profit: https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/btc

I recommend you to mine Ether with the GPU, GPU are not recommended for btc mining now.

in my opinion you should always remember that every year, mining bitcoin
is getting less and less profitable.
And the energy isn't cheap,so consider if it is worth it for you.

Thanks guys for your response. What I conclude from all responses is,

1) CPU Mining is not advisable – It might damage my CPU as it is not meant for mining purpose.
2) Special Hardware – If one is serious about mining he should go with special hardware.
3) Energy is not cheap – No matter if I’m not paying for electricity, someone is paying for it. One should not waste such resources.
4)  Altcoins – If I still want to do this then I should go with altcoins where CPU mining is recommended.

Some recommended adjustments:
2) Special Hardware – If one wants to make money mining he should go with special hardware. This can be GPU's or ASIC's.
3) Energy is not cheap – This is usually your #1 cost, be careful to do your calculations properly.
4) Altcoins – Do not limit yourself to mining BTC, and it might be possible to make some money with CPU mining but I would not do it.

Te original answer to #3 sounds like an argument I saw before

Day's of CPU mining are just long gone.  You will make micro amounts and those who pay money lose money on electricity, and you NEVER hear of anyone ROI'ing anymore on a CPU.     If you want altcoins you have to do GPU currently and a lot are focused in Ether just a good amount of money in it... so that causes a lot to mine it.

I would say set up a budget decide how much that is.  Then look at what is in your budget in Asic's or GPU.   If we know amount we can  help a little.   Keep in mind most that are mining GPU's still it is special setups for most as a LOT use open air (I do personally).  It just helps a lot with heat spreading them out with risers then in a case with little airflow.

If you truly have $0 to invest in mining rigs, you can always participate in one of the signature campaigns
here in the forum to earn some initial bitcoin. Then turn around and rent some hashing power at someplace
like NiceHash to mine promising looking altcoins. After that you can trade those coins on an exchange for
more bitcoin.

Then just rinse and repeat.

Mining is process of verifying transactions. And miner can only do this with power they have. If you understand concept of mining properly then you will not interested in mining of Bitcoins specially.

Bcz mining of Bitcoins is quite harder then before till price of bitcoin goes up.

So my suggestion will go for any other altcoin which can give you stable out put, use that currency for trading and then take some profit through it.

Don't expect that you can be still mine bitcoin in cpu better to buy asic to mine bitcoin.. if not if you dont have any budget try mining altcoin which is you can mine right now like monero ethereum or any premined altcoin..
Those altcoin can be traded into bitcoin and you will earn bitcoin.
