Hi All,

Im a newbie to bitcoin, although I have tried on numerous occasions to get involved over the past year and never once actually got the app fully loaded, its actually a complete put off and must be stopping a lot of people from joining, I mean your hoping to transfer money through this system yet us newbies cant even fire the thing up Sad

I read somewhere I can downloaded the latest database from the net, which may help me actually get the app running, could a kind soul please point me to where I could find this, and with luck, please explain how I can get the wallet loaded and start to explore the powers of bitcoin.

TIA

You may be well of if you just forget Bitcoin-qt for now and use Multibit.
I try not to say this, as full nodes are badly needed by the network, but...
If you still haven't used any address on that wallet, forget about it, go to https://multibit.org , download the Multibit software and install it.
The experience will be much smoother, I promise.

Hi Psy,

Super thanks for your info, I will check them out now.

Im still happy to try and install the full bitcoin wallet too, but I reckon I have waited well over 20 hours so far, and at some point I end up switching it off or the computer crashes (shes very old), and never seem to get past 85% of the blocks.

Cheers for your help so far, sounds like your option makes life a load easier.

Use a lightweight client like Multibit or Electrum

The full client download the whole blockchain, 7GB of transactions, this is why it takes so much time
