Had a buddy on here (Maxumark) find some new platinum SuperMicro 1280w Server PSU's (2) with back plate. Dual PSU's 2560w. Cost with re-wire etc was 300 bucks vs
the equiv cost for 2 Corsair 1200i psu's new as an example of 300 bucks each. This works just as well with 2x the pop for 1/2 the price.
You can easily run 6 cubes on such without any strain.

The full set of pictures are on my imgur page

lostgonzo.imgur.com

Was pretty straight forward. I used a plastic covered cup caddy rack (Walmart) to keep the units off the bottom of the titan case to help air flow. There
were enough holes in the KNC Titan case base to allow for zip ties about and around to hold down the unit. Was easy to make if very rigid. I took one fan out
for the large wire bundle. Blunts to connect the 15 gauge wire to the psu adapters direct. Also an antminer PSU toggle switch for the works.

That should be robust enough. NO NEED FOR ANY KNC Y ADAPTERS. With the blunts and the direct connection to the psu's and the 15 gauge wire
that is less connectors less heat with less less connector issues to fail imho. No issues at all. Solid and cool to the touch on the plug wires. Slick.

Again details with all my pics on above imgur site. Here are 2 sample pics so you get the idea on the zip tie method of arrangement within the KNC Jupiter Case.

Anyway pretty straight forward. My thanks to Maxumark for the PSU's/Backplates and the wire job. Works great!

But man I like the fact I get 2x the pop in power with same platinum rating for 1/2 the price of 2 corsair 1200I psu's I used to run per Titan.

Also the main reasons I put this in the KNC Jupiter case is I have 3 of them (mod'd the controllers with qberty clone bridges to make them titan controllers) thus
KNC case rich. Also with the psu's and the backplates and no psu case per say. The other choice was to zip tie the works directly to my wire shelves on my Titan
Shrine of a work bench. So as long as I was gonna have to zip tie the works together anyway, I may as well make it somewhat portable/luggable and use these
KNC Jupiter cases for something. Thus the hack.

Anyway hope this helps. Main thing is the server NEW they were... psu's work great. Not too bad of a hack with or without a case. Twice the power with same platinum efficiency
and 1/2 the price of what I was using before of 2 Corsair 1200i's with 16 awg wire and knc y adapters. Well hell I've got no complaints. Also I have no real fans
on the works either. Seems just fine in my 84F basement. Something to consider for those with the inclination for this kinda thing.

Hope it helps. Enjoy.

Anyway, again details on the above imgur link with complete finished and installed unit pictures on the above link.

Phil, looks like they are modifying back planes to work, not using breakout boards. Though if you guys are looking to produce these, I would suggest getting a purpose-built breakout board designed. Backplanes are a limited supply and can get costly, especially once the cheap sources dry up.

Nice work!

Contact Maxumark...may have been a one time thing on the PSU's at these prices and the backplates (see below). However the breakout boards would indeed be more
elegant that is for sure. We again just used the backplates because that was how it came as a chunk I think. Again ask Maxumark. Further details in below other reply
to a post.

I think Maxumark got a deal on the backplanes ...thus the hack

not sure how much of a production Maxumark would do on this ...just a hack for anyone finding themselves the same PSU's etc in some manner

but yeah break out boards would be more 'elegant' indeed

Contact Maxumark ...my contribution to this project was putting it in an old Jupiter case....zip tied together that it all is (very sturdy by the by) in a case of some
sort is still a cludge to move....but better then just zip tying it down to my rack under my miner bench as you could see in lostgonzo.imgur.com

Anyway the above was backplates/psu's and jupiter cases laying about and what to do with them kinda thing

details on psu equip and cable mod talk to Maxumark
