Could someone please take me through the steps just before the MN guide? I've never used a desktop wallet before and I think I'm missing something vital as well as being generally computer illiterate. All I've done so far is download it and it's synched... What next?

The EXCL Exclusivecoin blockchain snapshot has been updated on CryptoChainer.com.  This was not an easy sync, as the machine crashed, and the previous archives didn't work properly.  It will get you in sync, almost right now.

hey guys, been reading through the mn setup guide and was asking myself whats the trick about the IP thing?

masternodeaddr is the ip address and port of the masternode wallet.
if you are running the wallet at home, it is your home address, there are multiple ways to get your ip.

in the debug console enter
>getinfo

this may show your ip address,
alternatively enter "whatsmyip" into google,
this will also show your ip.

due to having dynamic IPs given by my ISP do I have to change the IP address every time I get a new one in the exclusivecoin.conf?

someone on another coin suggested using a dns forwarder,
they used noip.com

you set up on their site a url such as
mymasternode.noip.com
and use that in your conf files

noip.com then provides a small app that monitors your local ip, when it changes it will change the forwarding rules to your new ip.

so mymasternode.noip.com will be regularly updated to your dynamic ip
