What are the possible reasons why someone will prefer to buy btc or any other crypto to someone from the forum particularly than on the exchange sites?

No KYC or AML. There really is no need for identity verification for most trades and many exchangers here don't need to know your identity.

I personally like exchanges myself it is normally cheaper then buying from an individual. There are lot's of good choices all really depends on your country, very country specific on which is best for you. And you can link to a checking account which is really nice when buying or selling. It really is those who want to hide what they are doing or how much they are holding that are worried about KYC and want being anonymous that places like LBC are there for. So it really depends on use of your coins if there is any benefit. For me personally no benefit for me to be anonymous and pay a individual more. |

sometimes you want to buy with a payment processor like paypal for example that is nowhere to be found on any exchanges so you have to buy from an individual instead of an exchange. also as others mentioned you don't have to verify yourself.
and for any other coin, those may not be listed on exchanges yet so you are forced to trade with others off exchange. like new altcoins that you mine.

The buy and sell gap on exchanges can be very large so buying from someone in private is mutually beneficial for both parties. The buyer gets a better price while the seller makes more money. Also there is no fee. |

Most exchanges don't support popular payment methods like PayPal, Skrill etc. I'm pretty sure you can find a seller here no matter what obscure payment processor you use. Also you don't have to verify your identity which is something required by exchanges that accept regular currencies. And if you buy on LocalBitcoins it is possible you get better rates than the current market rate.

One can get better price than the exchange websites, also most times I use trading websites to find different traders and make transaction with the one who's price quote fulfils my requirement.

I think if we buy some coin in individual person we can get a price below the exchanger and is not affected by the transaction fee. and if we use the exchanger may be too complicated because it must register and through the verification process in advance. Thank you |

Depends on where you buy it,buy if you find out a trusted site,no one will scam you. But for some reason i prefer to buy from companies,probably because it is a lot faster in most cases. |

The trade can also be talked either what will be their rate and there is no verification needed for purchasing big amount of bitcoin where most exchange site requires. It is much safer to purchase directly from someone more if you trade with them personally instead of online transaction. |

The trade can also be talked either what will be their rate and there is no verification needed for purchasing big amount of bitcoin where most exchange site requires. It is much safer to purchase directly from someone more if you trade with them personally instead of online transaction. Anyway sometimes if you can find out good individual, you can get btc payment really fast,if you can contact with the correct person,and usually pay a bit more. |

because people sometimes want to do a transaction that is not too complicated, such as exchanger that require verification.
but for me it's safer to use exchanger, so I better choose safe although it was a bit tricky.

Not always,i know many exchanges where you can find really expensive bitcoin,according to let's say localbitcoins.com, or other sites where do you buy from exact person. Once i bought 0,01 someguy gave me his address password just to do transaction as fast as possible |

I can tell you from experience that you take a risk using exchanges. I lost money when cryptsy folded. With that being said, I have bought bitcoins from coinbase with no trouble. The problem with an exchange like coinbase is that you have to send money from a bank account so coinbase needs your bank account info and other personal information. Buying in person avoids the need to give out personal information and the risks of an exchange taking your money.

Most exchanger in my country always have a minimum limit to buy or sell bitcoin and it's not good for people who have only few satoshi. Buying from individual is more easy and allow small satoshi/bitcoin. |

I always thought that buying directly from an individual would be cheaper since your not going through an exchange, i assumed this way you could buy for spot price instead of the usual $10 or more over spot price. The other reason is obviously anonymity since you dont need to give any details of who you are. I know you buy directly off people on lbc but its still higher priced than spot price but if you did it private i bet you could buy it cheaper.

buying from someone else instead of using a service like bitcoin exchange site is only the case when someone wants to buy with cash and not use his creadit card or bank account because he wants to stay completely anonymous which is not a common thing among bitcoin users and especially because you can always use a mixer to reach that anonymity.

for me there is no reason i could buying bitcoin from individual in these forum because i considers buying bitcoin using exchange are more safer and low fees than buy it personally but if someone else want to sell to me his bitcoin but the rates are more low than usual exchange i would like to trade with him but still needed escrow if he want to trade with me
