if Craig Wright successfully claimed he is the real satoshi and had moved coins from satoshi's wallet to another wallet.
Can he then claim patent of blockchain? If yes, can he bring down the rest of the cryptocurencies?

Things are already open source and welcoming world to get in. Cryptography is really great thing can be implemented in multiple way blockchain has its own role to bring cryptography in form of digital currency. Another thing to consider is it's a protocol "qt" can be access on any of device connected to internet.

It would be very difficult to take it down. More than millions of people are using it, so it would be practically impossible to do so.

World is already start to implement it for day to day use. So Blockchain if get patented then other altcoin will might be run on different explorer as there are already few open source explorers.

It is more of an altcoin discussion than Bitcoin.

And to answers some of your questions, look here  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1520866.0
That thread is amazing mine of information for anyone who wants to know more about possible repercussion in case blockchain is patented. You will probably find you answers there.

But in market of all altcoin bitcoin has the highest value for exchange to fiat currency globally. Within all altcoins major altcoin are evaluated and exchanged as per btc value.

So this is thing which we are discussing has no meaning.

as far as i know, it's opensource. So no problem with patent.
and even if it weren't... would be hard to bring down other coins.

This is an insane situation that you are talking about. Bitcoin is an open source project, there are 0 chances of such a thing happening. And not only this, but the fact that Craig Wright will never fully prove that he is Satoshi makes it even more difficult. Even if he owned the private keys, it just proves he owns them, it does not prove he is the actual coder behind Bitcoin. Those keys could have been stolen.

I think patent, law and such things are for governments. But Cryptography especially Bitcoin is Peer to peer network. That means its decentralized. No one control it. Even government too.

But government understand importance of blockchain and start to implement it.

The first thing is very important thing is currency can also be exchanged directly already impact all over world in last 8 years.

In future blockchain is in phase to check possibilities can be used for administration by government or Corporate.

Just won't happen, not patented and even if it could be it's kind of too late now to even think along those lines, I am sure it will not stop people trying but I wish them luck Smiley

I doubt that your president has any more power to control internet that anyone here. Bitcoin is not standard payment system bitcoin=internet.
Unless Bulgarian authorities are willing to openly censor whole internet and set up "Great Bulgarian Firewall" you can sleep peacefully.

Also this whole mess with patenting blockchain is not gonna affect bitcoin much. It is highly doubtful that Wright will even manage to achieve this.

Good to know. I was reading some of the things he claimed lately and some comments says that he intends to actually patent the blockchain and for some reason if successful, he and the people behind him can control the use of blockchain.

I dont think so,that we may see anything like this.
Bitcoin is not some currency that is easy to manipulate,i dont think the altcoins are too,
im pretty sure if it would be possible to happen we would have people dumping all the altcoins.

That's a pretty good question, and my answer to that is it probably wouldn't do anything when it comes to the altcoins because they existed before the technology was patented. I'm not 100% sure when it comes to US patent law, but I would assume once something is created, and then replicated multiple times, you couldn't go back and patent it to force the competitors out, even if you were the original designer.

I think it is out of the cards to patent the blockchain now.

Bitcoin when realeased first was released as open source so there is no point of getting patent or not by any one or real satoshi. And next point is craig is not actually the real satoshi, many of us including me doesn't trust him. He have lied several times.
