You've found the right place my good man, I'll sell you some! Any particular type you are looking for? Many Cas collectors here hold them for potential appreciation.

No one can predict the future, we can't tell you Casascius coins will forever go up in value. You need to do your own calculations and figure out whether it works for you. There are too many variables to give you a definitive answer: Your income, other investments, how much risk you can take, the diversity of your portfolio and many more.

I don't have Casascius coins yet but I plan to have those added to my small collection but for me those physical coins are for me to keep and maybe hand over to my son in the future, never thought of selling it in the future but who knows what will happen I might change my mind. I never thought of having it displayed in my house as it maybe attract attention to some visitors that I don't know of and think of something bad thinking that it has a very high value in the market specially those brass coins that in first look one will think its very expensive.

They all have different premiums. There are only 45 Series 2 Silver 0.5 BTC, these currently sell for around 15BTC each! The Gold Casascius is a 1000 BTC coin, so very unaffordable They all sell for different prices based on a number of factors. Have a look at some of the auction threads over the next few pages and see for yourself What will they be worth in say 20 years?? Nobody knows. Never invest more than you can afford to lose!

If you're looking for a graded silver 1BTC, it's normally around 2.5BTC. PM me if you want one when you're ready.

They have always been a great investment for me and are basically liquid with the market here. The only coins that are hard to move are the larger ones (25BTC face and higher). I would not invest all of your coins into them, but owning a few is a good idea imo.

A casascius silver 0.1BTC has one of the highest premiums compared to it's face value. It will cost around 1BTC for the silver 0.1BTC. If you are looking for a cheap coin, there are some non-casascius coins around here in the forum that you could get for under 0.1.

If Bitcoin did reach a much higher valuation then I struggle to see how the BTC premiums would hold.
They're great things to own but if you're talking several thousand dollars of premium then that's a little bit of a stretch for me.
If Bitcoin reached $10,000 then I'm not sure the 1 BTC you paid for a 0.1 coin is going to hold. You may end up getting 0.15 or 0.2 and therefore chucked away a significant rise.
Who knows though. Perhaps they'll grow ever more desirable.

I dont think the premiums are based on usd.....the higher btc goes, yes the higher (usd) premium that btc is but then you will have higher interest (demand) where the supply is capped. So who knows but i think btc exploding would only increase the value, but then again its the btc world so i dont think anyone knows what the future holds.... In saying that if you are looking for cheap coins op, casascius coins are on the other end of that spectrum.

I think you'd have to be all the way down the rabbit hole not to care about the USD equivalent. At present I'd happily part with a few hundred extra dollars to get my mitts on a nice coin. Let's say you'd pay 2.5 BTC for a silver 1 BTC coin today. $1000 or so on top of the current BTC price which is significant but manageable. At 10,000 that becomes a $15,000 premium. That's a large amount to give up and premiums will always be speculative and illiquid to an extent.

Everyone has their own opinion and i appreciate that but if btc becomes $10k i doubt you will have the ability to pay $10,200 for a silver cas or 1.02btc for one. I can assure you that much.

You've got a good point. Going to play devil's advocate here, so I want to ask - Do you think that the $ value of BTC rising recently has not had an effect on Cas coins? The market has slowed down recently. Lots would agree. From another perspective, a lot of ordinary folks can still get into collecting these now, paying in fiat, a lot can't. and from yours, I agree that later on that will be an important factor. If you don't have bitcoins in the first place and are not wealthy, you certainly wouldn't be able to afford these.

Equally it is very easy to forget how rare they are. There's only 483 or so silver/gold 1 btc coins to share with the entire planet. Whether the rest of the entire planet cares is the important question.

Trust me it can be a headace trying to pick your first coin, im doing it now. Im looking to invest in a nice cacascius coin soonish but just not rushing into it. I want one the is funded and already graded, something between a MS65 - 68 would be nice. I don't have a huge budget so will probably look for a 0.1btc funded but still have lots of looking to do, until then i will keep entering the raffles and keep my fingers crossed.

If Bitcoin gets to 10k I will not really care what premiums I paid in the past! I am waiting for the day when I can peel one of my Cas 25s and use that to buy a Ferrari
