I am mining with a hd 5970, catalyst 11.12, sdk 2.1 and phoenix 1.7.5 on win 7 64 bit. Generally my gpu usage for both gpus is maxed out at 99%, but occasionally it will drop to 75% or something for a moment and then bounce back up. core clock is 850mhz, mem is 310 mhz, my psu is kingwin lazer 550w platinum (I know its not psu related, because even with a 750w antec bronze psu these flareups still happened). The temps are fine at about 50C for both gpus, so I was wondering does anyone know why this happens, what it means and how to fix it?

thanks for the help.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

It's probably just waiting for the pool to send it some work.

pretty sure he meant btc or ltc? but i'm guessing btc...and it's probably just a pool spike...i mine on slush and notice sometimes my gpu useage drops down and then back up...no biggie as long as it doesn't stay down...

Dreams of cyprto solving everything is slowly slipping away...Replaced by scams/hacks Sad

I am having this issues too, here with LTC-mining but on different pools.
Seems for me like a temporary network problem on pool or local site, especially with one miner which is behind a proxy.

I have a similar issue. When starting to mine both my GPUs run around 95% or higher, but after like 10 minutes my first GPU starts running at around 75% while my second is still around 94%. It basically stays like this after... Does this mean one of my GPUs are broken?

turn off crossfire, or use same clocks on each 5970 core.
