Litecoin mining requires a lot of memory to function properly. To my knowledge Avalon ASIC has little memory because it is designed for bitcoin mining that requires little of it.

Worried that sending out my address to someone is a security risk. They will be able to associate my wallet with my username.
How about having multiple addresses? Using another address for other transfers and so on.
|
Will do small programming tasks cheaply in exchange for BTC. Check out my thread or PM me!

no Ok, can I get an answer as to why that might be or a link to an article explaining why/how come that's not possible? ASIC means application specific integrated circuit. That is a chip designed for a specific application and nothing else whatsoever. In the case of the Avalon ASICs they are designed to hash SHA-1 and NOTHING else. LTC is based on an entirely different hashing algorithm, hence Avalon ASICs cannot mine LTC.
