Under development Modular UPGRADEABLE Miner (MUM). Looking for investors.
Changing one PCB with screwdriver and you have brand new miner in hand... Plug&Play, scalable from one module to thousands.

I think someone is being silly and bidding it up. It's got over 70 bids.

well, possibly seller themselves placed bids on that thing to get price high. But I really doubt it, because they'll have to pay HUGE fee on ebay. and if it "sells" when in fact it didn't they will lose money...
If these are real, actual bids, this looks like gold rush or something

"private listing - bidders' identities protected"

Is this similar when you're logged into e-bay ?

There was also a gold rush in summer 2011. Some people ordered shitloads of GPU when the price was at 32...

yep, still hides bidders if signed in. I don't know if these are real bids, or fake by seller, but if they are real... Avalon is mega money making machine even if you don't have it Grin

Ah - ok. Would be interesting to know if it's just one person bidding or severals. Is it legal to bid above oneself on e-bay ? That doesn't really make sense though.

But with current prices it should only take about ~2 months to recover a 15K purchase cost ?

No, ebay hates shadow bidding. In this case I think shadow bidding would be useless to the seller, because if items "sells" to themselves, well, they still will have to pay auction fees

I think Ebay is one of those places that needs to get shut down. If you want to buy something from someone, post it on Craigslist and take a chance of getting killed when you meet up.

if you see private bidding ebay, run with your money while you still can. Private bidding is risky, you do not know who biding on it. Could be seller with multiple acct bidding on his own auction , could be his friend, uncle, aunt, grandma helping him out. That is why it price got so high. If the scam fall through then they just say buyer did not pay and ebay will not charge them seller fee, if they do have a idiot that did pay $15K,  party time.

Dude, I'll title over a house worth $120k generating $1500/mo in rent if someone can physically put an ASIC box in my hand....

I seriously doubt anyone will be able to take me up on this offer... With all delays and lies going around about asic's being in the wild, I'm starting to think the entire thing is nothing but vaporware.

ASICs are in the wild.  That much is certain.

Unless somebody has made a botnet that perfectly splits workers into 64-70 GH/s chunks, Avalons are quite real and are getting into people's hands.  Although mostly in China Tongue

So, it looks like the auction is over, and the winning bid was $20,600. Hard to believe, that.

How is that hard to believe if in a month you can mine 9K at 6.5million difficulty (the next difficulty)
in two and a half months you're making profit...
Now why would you sell a money making machine that's beyond me...

Well, you can get an Avalon batch #3 for about $15K less - it will take more time, but are you really going to earn $15K during that time? And if BFL ships soon, this will lengthen the time to ROI. But of course, it may be hard to get a batch #3 since they may sell out quickly, and BFL may take a long while yet to ship, so I see your point.

My point is, who is selling an avalon when they can mine at least 9k for two full months.. and then probably 8k, 6k, 4k, 2k in the subsequent months of this year totaling somewhere in the ballpark of the 40-50k total... ( I could be absolutely wrong here as it's impossible to predict the future of BTC price and difficulty with all the variables in play, but you understand my point)

Oh, I totally agree that it is crazy to sell it (to the point that I wonder if the seller really has a batch #2 order). It's less clear how great the deal is for the buyer, but yeah, they will probably still make a tidy profit, assuming BFL doesn't release a flood of ASICs within the next month (not looking likely at the moment).

Yeah, I mean, there are a ton of variables involved. The way BTC is going, it's not crazy to think it can be $100 in a few days and $200 in a month... therefore turning your 9k/month avalong into a 15-20k per month deal!
or BFL can flood the market and screw the buyer, etc, etc, etc..
