I went and downloaded and installed and synced all the blocks but i dont know what my bitcoin address is and i dont understand how to get bitcoins sent to my wallet.

Look at the Receive Coins tab- you'll see your address for receiving coins there.

From Send Coins tab you can send coins

Thanks so when i go and try to do the free bitcoin faucet website just enter in the address there and it should send them

To be able to track your received coins independently, you may also create new addresses dedicated to one or more remote sites.

This way, when coins appears in your wallet, you'll instantly know who sent them to you (supposing you gave that address to only one remote person/site).

You can buy them for real money or sell something in exchange for bitcoins? There is a marketplace section on the forum where you can advertise goods and services for sale.

I recommend using a simple wallet as you get acquainted with bitcoins.
Check out instawallet.com

coinbase.com and blockchain.info can get you instant wallets as well. Hosted wallets have their pros and their cons.
