How much work goes into finding addresses with 7 chosen firstbits?
Namely, is it a time consuming mission with 7? I've never tried!  

It can take me up to a month depending on a few factors.  That is with running 5 GPUs.  Most of the time it is only about a week though.  I don't mind it for BTC because I'm running vanitygen 24/7 anyway, but I requested only 6 character vanity addresses for the alts because I have to run those exclusively for this project.

Also while choosing your addresses, remember that:

Most Bitcoin addresses are 34 characters. They consist of random digits and uppercase and lowercase letters, with the exception that the uppercase letter "O", uppercase letter "I", lowercase letter "l", and the number "0" are never used to prevent visual ambiguity.

Not a problem at all.  You don't even need to select Bitcoin as one of your wallet options.

These are the kinds of questions that made me want to do a prototype as I new I would encounter things I hadn't thought of.

The funding options are flexible.  I don't really see a point in funding prior to shipping, but I'm willing to fund them from my address with any amount you'd like.  I'd rather do it after you received the coin to decrease postal risk, but with these prototypes I certainly have room to customize each order.  There is no planned denomination.  That is entirely up to the buyer.

I'd rather keep text to 1 side as I feel the 1oz .999 FINE SILVER marking is important.  Again, I'm willing to be flexible on these.  I also don't want to put a character limit, but the more characters, the smaller your text will be.  If you put a sentence on there and it comes out as an unreadable line, that is on you and would be a casualty of the prototype model.  I can of course send images first before I engrave.
