Let's say I generate a new address and by some miracle it has Bitcoin already in it belonging to somebody else. Is it legal to just take it? I understand those odds are very low, no need to lecture me, I'm just interested.

The thing which is highly not possible, what is their to comment. Even if happens what you are telling then it is yours because this is not stealing , this is what we call you found it as a miracle.

I agree with you. It is not easily to obtain bitcoin in just generating your bitcoin address. It is very verry imposible because it is new address and the address is not the property of others it is on you.
it's possible but the chance is really low or i can say that it's nearly impossible but not impossible at all, actually when you're generating a new address, the address already exist before you're generating it and you just owning the privatekey after pressing generate address button so it does make sense if it's possible

That is the reality that even not in bitcoin stealing is illegal and everywhere if you are going to commit stealing you are doing it against the law. Because the law is not tolerating stealing and it is not a good act instead that is a criminal act so if you are going to steal bitcoin then you are against the law and you are going to have consequences.
even though  stealing bitcoin could be illegal but in reality no government would surely dont have care about  since bitcoin isnt regulated at all and  when you try to tell them about on a stolen btc maybe they would care nothing at all either they dont even heard about it  or  theres no such law about these matter.

Curiosity always is a burden, and he is just curious in things he doesn't know well in my opinion it is maybe OK to get something if the owner is unknown or the thing you have seen and then get a hands on it doesn't claim by anyone then I think it is OK to take it, but if someone else would claim that it is his or her then I think a proper hearing on things between the one claiming and the one that found the item may take part.

Stealing is an act of crime, so it is very illegal to steal bitcoin no matter how cheap the amount is. As long as you don't own that particular things then suddenly it comes to ur mind to steal it,  then you're committed a crime if you continue to do it on what u are thinking.

this is what im telling them from the start.  it is not a thief if you found something in your doorstep and no one claims it.  First that area is your property, basically that wallet address you created is yours.  If anything in there without someone claiming it, automatically become yours.  Example, a baby found in  a ship without knowing the childs parents and nationality will become a citizen of the country  of that ship.

the hard part is the one with the "claiming it". the debate starts if someone claims it is his and you doubt it (he could be lying to get free stuff) and/or think it is to late to claim it (already spent it).

what i meant was a situation if i find something on my property (or wallet) and after 3 year someone comes along and wants it because it is his. well at this point someone could argue, that you waited for a long and then spent it, so there is nothing to give back.

bitcoin is a digital asset and stealing any digital asset is a crime, even if you copy the content from any website unless they mention that content is copyable is also a crime so obviously stealing bitcoin is a big crime it's like stealing any physical asset.

You mean if we get  bitcoin from someone we do not know, it was not stealing but occurred because of fault of the owners of bitcoin.

You're absolutely right, taking something that can harm someone is definitely something that is illegal. And take something without notice is something evil for not getting permission from the owner. Your life will be looking a mess when doing a burglary, enjoy and are grateful for what we get.

Stealing is a crime not matter if you steal bitcoin or steal a Pen.. bitcoin is a money and stealing money is one of the biggest crime.
but in some countries where now any low for bitcoin I don't know what will be the situation if someone steal your coins.
Govt may don't even listen your case because they don't count bitcoin as a currency...
but this thing won't make bitcoin stealing legal in those countries

Even if stealing Bitcoin is illegal don't you think you will get your money/Bitcoin back? Bitcoin Criminals are smart they have hundreds of wallet addreses that you can't even trace one because it's untraceable, thats why the transfer of your money from 1 account to another is fast and easy your money will be distributed to other accounts that they owned, making it impossible to trace back your money.
