Let's say I generate a new address and by some miracle it has Bitcoin already in it belonging to somebody else. Is it legal to just take it? I understand those odds are very low, no need to lecture me, I'm just interested.
Yeah of course stealing Bitcoin is illegal but the thing is that there is really nothing that you can do when someone stole your Bitcoin from you. Because people can get away with it easy nothing is really done about it. I know stealing Bitcoin is still illegal but people can get away with it so easy and that is why they keep on doing it. There is not much that can be done to these people because the police are not going to waist there time on it. |

Especially when the scammer is physically located in another country - or continent. Unless the amount stolen is in the ballpark of seven figures or more, I don't think police will ever get involved. |

in my opinion this type of stealing money is a type of illegal activities . if you know that it is a adress at which anyone is already useing . and accidently you got that adress from.your wallet . just don't use that adress . |

Yup this is true steeling money and bitcoin or anything from human is illegal activity if you want to have some money work for it there are lots of work that can suit with our personality first thing is construction worker or we our going to build a shop buy and sell or anything On OP's scenario he accidentally obtain or [generate a new address with a bitcoin inside of it which is somehow an intentional thing for him to be called as a stealer but anything that you get from someones possesion its already consider as stealing but he have no choice to return it because he doesnt even know whos the owner of the said address. |

This have been a concept for ages and it wont stop. I think we should just look at our conscience. What do it say? Can you sleep after stealing? Is it still bothering you after a long time that it happened? Those question can answer what you want to point here.

Well, the coins that are bought by the person in question belong to that entity. If you somehow manage to guess the private key of someone, then you haven't done anything wrong, but as soon as you start to move the coins, then it can be seen as stealing. |

I want to believe that determination of whether legal or illegal from the objective point of view has to do with the law and not morality which is basely determined by our individual value based system and what we attached our morality to. That being said, in cases of law which seen people let off the hook because there is no section of the law that's says it wrong so back to Bitcoin I would say it is illegal if a particular section of law makes it so but from morality point of view, taking what does not belong to you is absolutely wrong and no two ways to it. |

I think that any stealing is wrong. Whether it is technically illegal in the situation you described I don't know. I would not take the money in this situation.

I guess that stealing Bitcoin is illegal because if they do not belong to you then it is still considered stealing even if people think that Bitcoin is illegal as well.
So yes stealing Bitcoin is still not legal but there is not much that can be done if it happens.

I think you need to read first on the statement of OP, correct stealing is illegal but base on the OP statement he was generated bitcoin address with the balance accidentally that is why i think that is not form of stealing he only a lucky person on that time |

Indeed, and my first question is..Is it possible? But since the thread starter says it...I consider it also a lucky day for him. First, the owner is innocent and the address was generated for him. He did not do anything to steal, its not on his mind or not premeditated. |

Before posting for signature campaign make sure you know well the post. Of course stealing is illegal and even a 1 year old baby knows that. The case of OP is different as coins are automatically generated. Well the odds is low but it's just that "what if it will happen". |
